http://www.latimes.com/business/la-fi-ct-newmoon21-2009nov21,0,7638993.story"The Twilight Saga: New Moon" was on course to break two box-office records in one day. The second installment of the vampire saga broke the record for midnight ticket sales Thursday night and was expected to record the biggest single-day sales ever at the box office Friday evening. Gross receipts from midnight shows in the U.S. and Canada totaled $26.3 million, distributor Summit Entertainment reported Friday morning.
On Friday evening, four people at competing studios who were following box-office returns said the movie was all but certain to gross more than $70 million by the end of the day. The previous record for single-day domestic ticket sales was $67.2 million, set by "The Dark Knight" in 2008. ............................................________ ....................................,.-‘”...................``~., .............................,.-”...................................“-., .........................,/...............................................”:, .....................,?......................................................, .................../...........................................................,} ................./......................................................,:`^`..} .............../...................................................,:”........./ ..............?.....__.........................................:`.........../ ............./__.(.....“~-,_..............................,:`........../ .........../(_....”~,_........“~,_....................,:`........_/ ..........{.._$;_......”=,_.......“-,_.......,.-~-,},.~”;/....} ...........((.....*~_.......”=-._......“;,,./`..../”............../ ...,,,___.`~,......“~.,....................`.....}............../ ............(....`=-,,.......`........................(......;_,,-” ............/.`~,......`-...................................../ .............`~.*-,.....................................|,./.....,__ ,,_..........}.>-._...................................|..............`=~-, .....`=~-,__......`,...................................................... ...................`=~-,,.,.................................................

And what is the problem with that? Obviously the movie series is a hit with the teens. Noone is forcing them to watch it, after all.

I'm not a 14 year old girl so I wont ever understand this Twilight craze.

[confession]the first book was certainly 'emo' - the second book was much better already[/confession]. I think half of my colleagues in the Dutch office had made a pact to go there together last Thursday - they're also the ones that forced me to read the books. Actually they're not that bad - it's a pretty easy read. Only thing that bugs me is that real Vampires are supposed to burn when exposed to sunlight - here that doesn't happen.

12 years ago I took my wife to see Titanic. I think I've picked every movie since then based on "yeah, but I went and saw Titanic, at the THEATER" (jokingly) and she's always a good sport. Not that we get to go see many movies these days. Yes, we're going to see it tonight with no argument from me. I can use this. LOL
It's hardly just 14 year old girls reading/seeing this, I think women like it even more. Pretty much every bookstore has an entire area dedicated to this thing and those True Blood books. It's chick sci fi, nothing wrong with that. It's a HELL of a lot better than yet another Meg Ryan Sandra Bullock Hugh Grant crap movie! LOL
