In the 1968 game, Ohio State won 50–14, outscoring its foe 29–0 in second half and attempting an unsuccessful two-point conversion attempt on its final touchdown. When asked why he went for two points with an already insurmountable 50–14 lead, Woody Hayes is rumored to have said, "Because I couldn't go for three."


In 1987, Earle Bruce was fired in the week before the Michigan game due to a poor season record, but was allowed to coach anyway, and the inspired Buckeyes won an upset over the heavily favored Wolverines. After the game, Bo Schembechler told Bruce, "I always mind losing to Ohio State but I didn't mind so much today."

Interestingly, ESPN's College Gameday will be here in Tucson for the Saturday night matchup between the University of Arizona Wildcats and the Oregon Ducks. Pray for my Wildcats, they're gonna need it.

My bro-in law lived on a lake in Michigan and we spent some vacations there. I could not believe the intensity of the football fans who, for no reason other than a show of support would drive their boats around the lake decked out in Michigan colors and flags playing their fight songs on a boom box, and this was in the Summer when football had not started.

I actually agree with him on a purely unemotional level. And it was a good show! Big crowd in front of Old Main. Amanda Beard showed up at the end, doesn't get better than that.
