Hello all - back from a rather long sabbatical.

Just bought a 23" wide screen monitor. So...how do I set IL-2 to get it to fly at the native resolution 1920x1080? And is there anything else I should know?

Thanks in advance.

Go to C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\IL-2 Sturmovik 1946\conf

and edit the window line so it looks like this:

[window]
width=1920
height=1080
ColourBits=32
DepthBits=24
StencilBits=8
ChangeScreenRes=1
FullScreen=1
DrawIfNotFocused=0
EnableResize=0
EnableClose=1
SaveAspect=0
Use3Renders=0

Note that those lines will change back to default if you edit the settings menu in the sim.

Have they corrected the aspect ratio problem? In the past, your view was always slightly reduced when going widescreen, i.e. it truncates the top and bottom slightly.

Mine worked in wide screen fine until I installed Windows 7, 64 bit. Now, none of these suggested settings helps, nor can I play I in OpenGL.

The only other thing you should know is that the IL-2 fixed 5:4 screen image will be fitted to the width of your wide screen so, having a width to height ratio of 16:9 or 16:10, the vertical image will be short of a slice of picture top and bottom. If you use TrackIR this is not a problem. If you use a HAT switch you may have a 'blind' slice top and bottom.

IL-2 does not generate a 16:9 or 16:10 image so it ain't available to select.

You get less image area but usually the screen is Bigger! And higher resolution! So it's a visual gain smile

After trying this for a while, my fullscreen 1440x900 felt somewhat claustrophobic when compared to using a window at the native aspect ratio. So results may vary.
