Hi Gang,

I'm >< this close to putting the finishing touches on the New Control Manager Dummies Guide. And believe it or not, I need YOUR help. I'm at a point in the Dummies guide where I discuss selecting modes. As some of you may know, with CMS there 4 modes available in CM. I was trying to think of a reason to use 4 modes in a .map. Personally, I have enough buttons, switches and axes for a single mode. Any ideas on what one would use 4 modes for? I look forward to your replies...

beercheers

I agree with the post in the other forum, a mode for Nav, A2a, A2G & Coms. Also, having 4 modes just because you can!!

Personally, I just use the buttons and axis in 1 mode.

Ghost,

When contemplating hardware I've wondered this as well - I am used to three modes on the Cougar and program these for NAV, A-to-A, and A-to-G. I don't think a separate mode for comms would be a good idea; you need to use comms when flying and fighting, not separately from that stuff.

One thing it might be useful for, if you have a complicated sim with a lot of keystrokes (Falcon 4 would be the most applicable), is to use a 4th mode for "housekeeping" tasks that you would like to put on the HOTAS but don't want to devote button space to in any of the other three modes. Perhaps things like refueling probe control, landing lights, etc. Most of that stuff can probably fit on the NAV mode just fine, however.

I agree also. I was looking for ideas on what others may use a 4th mode for. Thanks!

Thanks Joe. Chalk up another idea to add to the list. Come on guys, any other input?
