i am looking for an mp3 that i know is on my computer. i have 6 different hard drives, and the windows search isn't finding the tune. i suspect it's not searching all the of my hard drives, but i am not sure. i type mp3 into the search box in the lower left hand, and then again in the upper right search screen that opens, directing the search to my hard drives. the search pulls up a lot of mp3s, but not all those that i know i have. therefore, the search is not a thorough one across all my drives. anyway advanced search functions or settings that i can use to ensure that the search is hitting all of my 6 drives?

I actually haven't searched windows 7 yet, but isn't there the usual advanced search in explorer where you can define which drives it needs to search?

Download Google desktop search. They are the kings of searching.

if you open windows explorer and click on Computer (it should have all of your drives listed underneath it), it should search all of your drives. Also you can set the search options by right-clicking on Computer, then click Properties. Click the search tab and set accordingly. I haven't had a problem finding some obscure files yet
