I'll be damned if I know what the problem is. My husband's system and mine are identical in every way. He has no problems. I freeze and have to force reboot every ten minutes. We can't team play. It sucks. I probably won't buy the subscription, it's a shame because the game is really fun.

So I broke down and got it yesterday. And am still plagued with the same problems I've seen before. Randomly getting disconnected when loading maps for the most part. But I also had my first freeze.

The game still has some quirks and issues, but hopefully the biggest will be quickly sorted out.

I can't play it. I must have hard-reset twenty times since Saturday. We've tried everything. Updated bios. Reseated memory and video cards. Pulled out the two DIMMs of slower memory I had even though the motherboard manufacture says that mixed memory is compatible with the board. Now I'm downgrading Catalyst to 9.12 from 10.1, and after that I have no clue what else to try. My system is identical to my husband's other than the Catalyst 10.1 and the older BIOS on the motherboard. His works great. I freeze every ten minutes. It's maddening.

It was one of the reasons I cancelled my pre-order. I just don't see why I should pay for such an unstable game.

I never had the sort of lockups with my old Nvidia card that the 4870 has.

Could be an ATI issue running Nvidia 8800GT here

Hmm.

Try this perhaps, Cat:

Ingame type

/maxfps

It might return 0.0000 which means no max fps is set, and the game seems to push your GPU extra hard.

Try setting it to a number, like

/maxfps 60

You can check if it's set by the /maxfps command.

The only problem is that you ahve to do it every time you log in. But you should be able to see if it matters or not. If so, it's because the game unrestricted overheats your videocard.

I just read you have to PAY to play as other races!!

So you buy the game, pay every month for a sub and then have to buy things in the game!? WTF? What is the sub paying then?

The state of business models for games is getting more and more brazen, seeing what they can get away with.

And Cryptic are still using the same instanced main game like in Champions online...

I don't want to play it, I can't stand Star Trek and watching the vids of gameplay hearing the crappy sound effects as if straight from the 60's TV show made me cringe, I was just shocked at what I had read. Usually things like this can become the norm.

But you carry on with your game, is Fanboi race in there? smile
