can the muzzle flashes be modified to look
more consistent and more realistic?

presently they vary greatly at different angles,
side on they're too big and over animated, front
on they're odd sizes..rear on they still look overdone...
could be more of a glow than a flame throwing effect!

also tracers and smoke are very weak externally..
and not visible at all thru the gunsight...even with special
effects on high setting.

Both of these items a real immersion killers..

ade nope

If the opacity of the flash sprite was reduced by roughly 50%, I think you would have the look you desire. That can only be done by hard coding or 24 bit with alpha masking (32 bit color). Which is easiest depends on the sprite graphics used and how modable you want them.

I would have to agree with the muzzle flashes....they are a bit much........but
I must admit I really don't see them much while flying, except sometimes on other
planes that are shooting as I am flying past them, or I see them on a plane that
is shooting while I am shooting at him...and in that case, they look quite
exceptional....to me..... wink
But for me, the external look of the smoke on the bullets looks great!

I also see it well from in-cockpit, but that could be because I am use to seeing it,
as I have been flying with it right after it was first made.
As Ralf could tell you, it took me awhile to get used to it, and I complained that you
couldn't 'walk' your tracers anymore to target, as all bullets used to wear a tracer.
But now I love it, and CAN 'walk' my smoke trails to target. biggrin
To make it more apparent would be fine, as I really like the effect....but it does
look very realistic to me as is......If you have not been flying with this effect for
very long, you might wait a few flights more......alot of our shooting is not always
against blue sky, so it is harder to see.......See how well you see it against the sky.
If it still doesn't look strong enough, by all means lets see if Ralf could make it
thicker looking... thumbsup

Hi Ade,

what you show dont looks like the EAW1.28c gun flashs!

In a clean EAW1.28c they are by far more thin, looks like you use some sort of a effect addons.

The effect addon i know imho overdue all flames very much.

You should adjust the muzzle position a little toward the wing.

You might be able to adjust the related sprites to adjust the size.

Greetings,

Knegel

Hi,

we adjusted the muzzle positions so they fit to the real position, also most addon skins use this position.
We decided not to include new skins to keep backward compatibility to others skins, which often use some of the default skin files.

Greetings,

Knegel

ya missin' the point folks....

it's not the colour/type of the muzzle flashes, it's
their unrealistic size and inconsistent shapes
from various camera angles...

clean install without max's explosion/flame effects....

1.28c default size..

suggested 60% resize..

I highly suggest you keep the size and reduce the opacity. The end result will be more realistic. It is also resizable as shown.

Unless, these graphics are unique for each aircraft. If they are, and you can asign them a unique attribute, you can do the same thing.

Hi FT,

these muzzle flashes are part of the wing .3DZ. You can remodel their elementsize in 3DZ studio or you can give it a smaller drawing in it's .TPC.
If it uses transparency in the drawing then the transparency file also needs to be edited.

Out of date info VB.

These are sprites nothing to do with the 3dz. Although, I would have liked to do it that way.
