Hi, all.

I'm sure you vets have seen this before, but I got confused trying to track down the solution.

EAW runs well, as far as I can tell, after having installed it for the first time in about 8 years. However, the briefing rooms, introductory graphics, etc. are poorly displayed. I got screens like this in other games and was able to correct it by changing the anti-aliasing level, but there is no option for that in EAW, of course.

I would just like it to look like it should.

Would someone point me in the right direction, please?

Thanks.

Michael

The map screens:
There is no fix currently available, but there should be soon.
Crashin' Jack is working on a version of 1.28C which uses 1040x768 selection screens, and it displays the maps properly. It also seems to fix the screen tearing problem that some (1.2) 7217 victims get with 1.28b/c. Several people are awaiting news regarding the release.

"Pixellation" on the other screens:
A workaround for me is to select multiplayer...tcp/ip..then click Cancel when the IP entry box appears, then Esc to return to the mainscreen. For some reason the mainscreen then displays correctly.

Hi Michael,

As MrJelly said, we are working on the conversion of EAW to 1024x768. The code which had previously been adapted for 1.28b, has been added to the 1.28c+ code and compiled successfully. So far the coding for the following screens is done:

Main
Single Mission Parameters
Pilot Career
Multiplayer New Game
Mulitplayer Parameters
Configure Game
Hangers
Barracks
Squadron Selection screen

Work has begun on the Briefing Room screens. At this point several of the pages also have new artwork, following the basic layout of the original game. The default artwork gets pretty grainy when it is increased in size to 1024x768, so they are being replaced.

Keeping the style of the default game is of great importance, so all artwork will try to follow the established types of graphics we have all become so fond of over the years. In addition, the original artwork will be released at the same time in the increased size format for those that wish to use it.

Going as fast as we can, but it will be some time yet before we can plan a release.

Cheers!
