Ok, I figured out a while back that the I had locked the wrong axis making my radar inoperable.

I have laid out a reasonable key mapping for my x-52.

This is probably a stupid question, but by god i've looked in the manual, online, on youtube.

How do you unlock targets and switch targets once you are locked on?

This is slightly important if you are facing more then one bandit... and or ground target

In all honesty, would one of you guys be up to walking me through some things over the phone or through instant messenger

my aim is Robdamp06, pm or aim me for if you would want to call me.

Help would be greatly appreciated, I like the SIM but im suprised to say this the learning curve is killing me, and I've been playing realistc sims since Fleet Defender:Gold back in 95

"TMS Right" (key combo slips my memory) will switch to next nearby contact on FCR or "." on keypad not on keyboard will unlock. Afterwards you can slew your cursor and relock.

Sorry if I misunderstood the question but locking again the alreafy locked target will unlock the designation. (I am sure you have target designation kep mapped into your X-52.)

There is a laptop config in the keys listing. Look for undesignate in the list, I think that is it. I'm without F4AF and I don't recall the keystroke for the keyboard but I know it's there as I used it while deployed.

To unlock targets, you want "TMS Down"
To select next target "TMS Right"
To select/Lock target "TMS Up"

If you set whatever buttons you will be using on your stick to these settings, you will get additional functions from the same buttons when you enter Dogfight Mode.

I generally don't use the "TMS Right" command to try and change air targets. It only works in TWS mode, and I prefer knowing which contact I am locking up and not having the radar pick the next one. But I have it mapped to my stick as it has other uses depending which radar mode you are in.

(This is all for the realistic avionics. I assume you are using that)

The learning curve is steep, but well worth it. If you can, try some multiplayer once you have the very basics down. Even getting on a Team Speak server and talking with people can help. It hurts to say this, but read through the entire PDF manual over time. Lots of good information, images, and descriptions in there. Good Luck!

Oh, I've used up most of my print quota given to me by the school printing out sections of the manual.

A minor annoyance though is the manual neglects to say what the command is, such as TMS down, etc given that the game uses the proper terminology instead of Lock/Unlock.

I haven't had time to play in a while, right now I'm making a X-52 profile for Black Shark, and prob will get back to AF once im done with finals

Rob, this is a bit off topic but I must ask: I have heard a few things about Suny Oneonta; is it what they call a "Liberal Arts" college? I had an ex-girlfriend who transferred to a school down here in Utah because she said that school is dangerous; any truth to this?
Continue on topic everyone. Sorry.

Um, what is dangerous?

I know 2 years ago someone got raped, but there doesn't seem to be any more violence then any other college.

I rather like it myself, the History program is excelent. Yes, back to topic.

Are you from the Tri-State Area?
