ATI HD58xx supplies will pick up in mid December, it is rumored. The reported reasons for TSMC's process failures are hard to buy it is opined.

HD58xx In December

Nvidia Fermi (G300) is probably quarter 2 (May or after) it is rumored. And, Fermi is currently much slower than anticipated it is rumored. However, that doesn't mean its slower than ATI's stuff. We must wait and see.

So far, the linked site's rumors have been pretty good regarding ATI & Nvidia.

PS> The reason I'm holding out (instead of buying a higher end NVIDIA card or crossfiring two 4890's is that the argument (made on Tom's Hardware) that the 5870 is "feature-complete" in the same way my current NVIDIA 8800 was in it's day. That 8800 still runs most software at a decent rate, and it's path to obsolescence was MUCH slower than other cards I have.

Allen - just read the article. Cripes--- they've moved full production to December.

One poster on the website speculated that TSMC's problems were due to either corporate sabotage or an insider deal with NVIDIA. I'm skeptical of both. But I thought it was interesting that the author of the article was absolutely baffled that, in an industry that checks it's calibration as often as chip-makers, this could happen.

Hmmmm.... How to fit the grassy knoll into this one?
