One of the better sci fi series (despite the muppet factor), and one of the few to hit it bang-on the first season.
The dvds went out of production years ago due to some kind of squabble over rights or something. Netflix didn't even had a complete set.
They're now re-released either season by season or the complete series.
I went through Amazon at $38 for season 1, or get the entire series for ~$105.

I've heard many good things about this series. One day I'll watch it.

The show has a lot of style and dialogue close in quality to Firefly's. Very original episodes and ongoing plotlines.

Just an FYI - I went out to my local Best Buy in Atlanta tonight and picked up the boxed set for $69.99 (part of a web special). It even included the Peace Keeper Wars (a 4-hour mini-series wrap up). It's back-ordered off the Best Buy website already but make sure to check locally as some units may still exist in your neighborhood store. I got the last copy at the Buckhead location.

The quality of the DVDs seems really good as I checked out the first disc tonight and it was amazing seeing it again especially on my 120" system. Highly recommended, good hunting.

Oh and to Panzer - if you like a good villain, Farscape not only has a number of good villains, but also one of the best villains of all time in any movie or show in the form of Scorpius. Since a hero's struggle is often defined by the strengths of the villain, Farscape nailed it with Scorpius. He's stronger/more intimidating than Darth Vader in my book.

I'm shocked you haven't even watched a couple of episodes of this show. Your sci-fi street cred is down, lol.

I'll be checking out Netflix today to see if they have Farscape available. I think you've really sold me on the series Rook.

I believe they have added the first 3 seasons to the watch it now feature. You don't even have to have them mailed to you now.
I think you could make an argument for this show being an influence on Firefly. The crew's lifestyle is similar and Crichton is kind of a cowboy like character. Especially when he starts to carry "Naomi" and "Winona". LOL

so this show is actually good? i lumped it in with the crappy stargate shows, but that might have been a mistake. if you guys really enjoy stargate though, maybe i actually won't like farscape. this isn't the one with the guy who played hercules, right?

LOL You mean Kevin Sorbo? No, the sci-fi show he was on was "Andromeda".

Farscape is the show Stargate SG1 raided for actors, Ben Browder and Claudia Black. Far superior show IMO. Better writing, characters, sets, humor, special effects and more original episodes.

Farscape lasted 4 or 5 seasons?

4 seasons, then there was the Peacekeeper Wars movie to wrap it up. Of course with Sci Fi channels weird season schedule it seemed like 8. IMO the horrible schedule along with the budget are what killed the show. It was every bit as bad as the BSG schedule was, if not worse. DVD really is the best way to watch the show.
