I had the same experience. I did not really care for the first season and the selling the series routine got stale but once it moved on it was hilarious.

Remember in the beginning Jerry was still doing the American Express commercials? The one about performing on a ship and falling overboard and using the card for various purchases to get back on board for the next performance was better than some shows.

I can't think of many shows that left as many sayings and expressions in public use as did Seinfeld.
Festivus, Not that there's anything wrong with that, the dingo ate your baby, etc.

Even secondary part time characters like Newman, Puddy, Mr. Pitt and especially J. Peterman became famous in their own right and masters of their own domain.

Ditto. I don't think I watched much of the first two seasons. Kramer would fall through the door and just be Kramer and I didn't get it. It just seemed way over the top. But gradually I got hooked and once hooked they reeled me in.

Remember "The Bubble Boy" episode where George gets roped into playing Trivial Pursuits with Donald, the bubble boy? Donald gets a question "Who invaded Spain in the 8th century?" and answers correctly "the Moors", but the question card says "the Moops" due to a misprint. So George insists it's "the Moops" and they get into a fight which deflates the bubble. Hilarious.

When you consider it was about a bunch of self centered New Yorkers with a lot of dialog depending on some knowledge of NYC it is amazing it became so popular.

True. It was about characters and dialogue and remembering what happened in past episodes. They played on that a lot. If you didn't see the previous episode you probably didn't get it. If you did, it was a freaking riot.

A sitcom about nothing.

I hold it as a badge of honor that I have never seen an episode.

Considering it's syndicated, etc., it's sort of a game rather than any sort of aversion to the show.
