This is really incredible....

Varmint, I wonder if I purchase the FX9 version, what will it cost to upgrade to the FSX version when it comes out?

Varmit, I couldn't find any information on release schedule for FSX version from VRS web site except 'soon.'

Will it be available within the remainder of the year or the torture need to be prolonged to the next year?

Hey guys,

We posted an update along with a few pics the other day. http://www.vrsimulations.com/forums/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=2071

We're gonna go ahead and push it into next year just to make sure things are as smooth as possible. We'll start preordering ASAP (10 to 25% discount), but we want to make sure certain elements are working before we do that, so that I can set a firm date when the preorders begin.

Cheers,

Wow, Looks sweet. Noticed, in a few in flight shots, there were some remove before flight streamers that the weapons crew forgot to remove before takeoff. Darn beebee stackers... lol

I enjoy the default F/A 18 that comes with the gold version of FSX, but I end up crashing 98% of the time during carrier landings. I find it extremely difficult to have all the parameters in line in order to make a succesful landing:

correct alt on final
Speed 130k
decent 730
"ball" alligned correctly

And when I do make it on the deck and catch one of the wires my plane will do a crazy angle nose dive ending up in a crash.

I did a search for gear fix and couldnt find anything - do you have a link? I did find the following from the FSX Blue Angels:

WHEEL BRAKE FIX .CFG (Minimizes spin-outs when applying wheelbrakes)
AIRBRAKE/SPOILER FIX (Stops the nose from rising when airbrake is applied)
SMOKE FIX (More realistic smoke effect)

http://www.fsxblueangels.com/downloads.html

Is the FSX Blue Angels WHEEL BRAKE FIX the same as the "gear fix?"

Same for me. Would also like to have a link to that fix, if is it not that from the Blue Angels website...

THX Varmint for the update on the Super Bug!

Carrier Tips & Tricks

Consider modding your plane. As some features of most carriers don't work in multiplayer like the meatball and catapults. Try modding your plane so that the gear is stiffer and you have more thrust at take off. Myself I fly the Alphasim Prowler and we have a fix for the gear and thrust so I can easily take off from the cats at the front of the carrier. As always back up any file before modding.

This tip is huge for me:
Be ready to disengage the hook. Alot of times you're not going to be able to get perfectly lined up. If this is the case when you land on the carrier and the hook grabs, it will pull you from one side or the other and flip you. A good way to avoid this is to be ready on the hot key for your hook and as soon is it starts to pull you back, release the hook and it won't roll you out. You're brakes will do the rest. This is one of the biggest tips I think there is as I was able to increase my landings by 80%.

Be aware of traffic. Even though collisions are off in the Flight Sim Nation server it makes it easier for everyone if you use common sense. Clear the deck and either taxi to a cat or parking once you've landed on the carrier giving others room to land. Don't buzz aircraft or the carrier. This is really annoying and will most likely get you ejected from the server.

Don't forget you are always moving on the carrier. When the carrier is anchored we have the server paused to provide a very stable platform but remember you will slowly drift to the back of the carrier. If you're parked on it, make sure you don't fall off. When the carrier is in motion you will be drifting towards the front.

Keep in contact with other pilots. Our server has radios disabled to improve performance so use the chat window to state your intentions or better yet connect to our ventrilo chat. You'll find the info for our vent server all over the site and in the repeating message in the server chat window.

And Finally....Practice! Don't expect amazing results your first time.
