Wouldn`t the above post be more suitably placed in the correct forum, somewhere like here, http://simhq.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/forums/75/1/Battle_of_Britain_Battle_of_Br.htmlSimbo

Thanks Simbo, I guess it could also have gone in the screen shots forum, the general world war II air combat forum...
Community hall is an 'anything about anything (within bounds!) forum' and I post stuff here I think will be of interest to anyone who enjoys sims, not just anyone who owns a particular sim...
I have enjoyed reading here about sims and games and films and books I never would have heard of if I only stuck to the dedicated specific forums for games I know and play.

I stumbled upon your site and that announcement today, looking for general BoBII info which I had just installed. Doing the Battle for France is a most amazing idea on that engine.

Yes it should be quite a good realisation of the theme - very authentic flight models, skins, newly created Spit and Bf110 models and the missions feature that BOBII 'snowflake' design which means no two executions of the same mission are exactly the same.
Shame there are no French aircraft in this sim, but the quality of the offlne RAf and LW AI makes up for it! Love scaring those Bf110s into a Lufberry and then picking them off (if I don't get cut down in the crossfire first of course...)

Are the new models in the screenshots already? I hope for high poly models... the current ones are starting to show their age, and modern hardware would not have any problem running higher polygon models...

I'm not a modeller/skinner and will send your query through to Those Who Know More Than I.
I do know they are pushing modern machines to their limits with the total environment which not only includes the aircraft models, but hi def landscape tiles, flak modellng, special effects and higher res ground objects and autogenerated objects like forests and trees.
Put together all these elements mean only high end machines can run on high res settings, and older machines need to dial the settings back for suitable FPS.

Well, my new box does 40+ FPS, I'd be willing to trade a little speed for better aircraft models. The one killer still are particles, but I don't think a few more polygons and textures would trap the gfx card.
BTW, will the Dunkirk "scenery" still be there in normal BoB campaign? Or is there a way to hide/show the tents and other army stuff depending on the mission?

Are the new models in the screenshots already? I hope for high poly models... the current ones are starting to show their age, and modern hardware would not have any problem running higher polygon models... If we look at the current state of WWII sims I agree we can say BOBII will not compare well with BOB Storm of War, but this is still a work in progress and we have not seen in game shots yet, nor do we know what PC specs will be needed to achieve the results we are seeing from 1C Maddox development shots. Comparing with the other state of the art - IL2 AAA mods - I don't think BOBII compares poorly at all. http://www.a2asimulations.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=1732&start=3090http://www.allaircraftarcade.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=20552Personally (it's all about taste after all) I prefer latest IL2 damage modelling and effects, and ground objects/density, while I prefer BOBII clouds and weather, sunrises and sunsets, flak. I think aircraft models and skins are very much on par. H

Sorry I missed the last question. Battle of France will be a separate install to the standard BOBII, similar to, for example, Over Flanders Fields for CFS3, but rather simpler. In testing, it takes about ten minutes to do a full Battle of France install. H
