What's your "go to" setup in MW2 multiplayer?

Just seeing what everyone's been using online. I unlocked cold blooded yesterday and that's the slot 2 perk to end all slot 2 perks. UAV can't see you, Harrier can't see you, Helo can't see you, no red box around you for Predator, Apache or AC-130 and when you unlock the pro version (admittedly hard without the stinger unlocked) your name doesn't come up nor do the xhairs turn red when the enemy points at you.
I have 3 main guns and a couple mixes of them
SCAR with Holosight & Silencer Glock 18 (I love this thing) Frags Flashbangs Bling Cold Blooded Steady Aim
Same as above with UMP and M4 and a couple with an AT4 instead of the G18. I'm thinking of dropping bling and the holosight to carry scavenger as ammo sometimes becomes a problem.
So what's everyone else using?

I like the UMP, started playing with it a day or two ago.
I generally prefer being stealthy, so my main build looks like:
UMP w/ ACOG or Thermal. Thinking about sticking with silenced though. Javelin Claymore Smoke
Marathon or Sleight of Hand Pro Cold Blooded Pro Ninja Pro
But I'm getting to where I only want to play hardcore, preferably S&D. This build suits that.
I do have a BigBangBoom class which I bring out if I get noobtubed. It's a scar with noob launcher, AT4 secondary, and Danger Close. The other stuff doesn't matter as I'm simply out for explosive revenge.

For the anti-tube class you should swap the AT4 seconday with the thumper and take scavenger that way you can just tube people all day

Just curious but what do you use the Javelin for in MP?

Helicopters, turrets and the AC130, the Javelin ignores flares so it has an advantage over the stinger.

For the anti-tube class you should swap the AT4 seconday with the thumper and take scavenger that way you can just tube people all day Yeah I do have scavenger on that, but I don't like the thumper. It leaves you vulnerable when firing and has a huge arc. I prefer the direct smash and great blast radius of the rocket. When the toob doesn't finish 'em - the AT4 always does. I use the Javelin to take out enemy Kill Streak Rewards as well as send in a massive explosion to known enemy locations.

I know with the stinger if you hold fire for a second while it's locked the choppers will release flares so you can get them with the first shot while the flares reload. I haven't tried the javelin online yet (I'm only lvl 28) and I haven't had anyone get the 130, they always seem to use chopper gunner instead.
I got to use the 130 once, it was damn fun. The 40mm Bofors is a blast.

Good to know on the stinger. The time to target on the javelin would probably make it ineffective, though.
I'll try again, maybe the countermeasures are less effective against the javelin. If someone else fires right before, I think the counters wouldn't be reloaded yet.

Have you seen anywhere with overhead pics of the maps? I know the strategy guide has them but it's too much money and the maps are the only reason I'd want it.

I tried to google that stuff and found places had like 3-4 maps done and they got those out of Playstsion magazine or something. I don't think it will be too much longer until someone manages to get some up though.

SCAR-H with Holographic sight. Good accuracy, excellent range and knock down. In general I prefer hardcore and don't like perks, but the airdrop does make it feel like Christmas every round.

Modern Warfare 24/7 They don't have all the maps down yet but it's a work in process. Good info for sure. I did get the Prima strat guide and for $20 it was a good buy. The Hardback strat guide even comes with laminated maps but as you would expect its a little more cash.

I've been using the following to get a feel for the game: - SCAR-H with Red Dot Sight and FMJ
- SPAS-12 with Red Dot Sight
- Frag Grenade
- Flash Bang Grenades
- Bling
- Stopping Power Pro
- Steady Aim Pro
The setup isn't fancy, but a decent overall setup to knock off easy challenges and unlock things. Once I get a few more hours under my belt, I'll throw a couple of layouts together for different situations.

I have two main configs, both centering on the SCAR-H
Config A) Primary = SCAR-H w/Thermal Sight and Grenade Launcher Secondary = PP2000 w/Red Dot Sight Semtex Grenades Smoke Perk 1 = Bling Pro Perk 2 = Cold Blooded Perk 3 = Scrambler Pro Death Streak = Martyrdom (hardly ever get a kill with it)
Config B) Primary = SCAR-H w/Thermal Sight and FMJ Secondary = Stryker Shotgun Frag Grenades Smoke Perk 1 = Bling Pro Perk 2 = Cold Blooded Perk 3 = Scrambler Pro Death Streak = Martyrdom (hardly ever get a kill with it)
I also have a Sniper config along with an AUG and an RPD. I only have one config with an anti-vehicle weapon. And, even though I've unlocked better weapons I'm sticking with the AT4 because you can fire it without locking on, which allows you to fire it at people, which comes in handy when your primary is empty.
All these setups are subject to change, of course. I tinker all the time.
One Perk I might go back to is "Hardline" which allows you to get the Kill Streak bonus with 1 less kill. That can come in real handy.

What kind of luck do you have with scrambler? I find that when an enemy is using it I know to set up an ambush as soon as my radar goes fuzzy.

I have tried the SCAR, and I don't find it has the range as the FAMAS. Also the recoil is a little more with the SCAR. I really like shooting in 3 round bursts, only thing is the FAMAS needs stopping power to be deadly, the SCAR does not.
My main rig right now is:
FAMAS w/ bling heartbeat sensor and holo- the heartbeat sensor works great on some maps, but most I find it distracting and I end up dying more than killing. Doubt I will keep it. Probably stick with grenades or FMJ when I get it for FAMAS or M16 when I unlock it (love that 3 round burst!)
Perks are Stopping Power, Commando, and Bling. I love to knife people.

Now that I have "bling" (multi-attachments) perk I've mounted the grenadier launcher and have gone back to the red dot as now in hardcore I find the larger dot of the halographic is actually a detractor.

Yeah, now that you mention it, I've been ambushed a few times and it left me wondering "How the hell did they know I was coming?" But, I still think I have a kill ratio over 1 so I'm killing more than I'm dying (barely).

LOL, I only really worry about it in TDM where it means something.
Don't worry, in domination or HQ I'm rolling in like Leeroy Jenkins. In sabatoge I'll try for a first down.

They KILLED Hardcore HQ… So pissed off about that – it was my favourite COD4 game type.
So I dove into this full force about 2 days ago after finishing Dragon Age (best single-player gaming experience this year). Now at lvl 20 in MW2. So Its going to be Hardcore TDM all the way.
I’m loving the new iron sights. I find the red dot sights useless now since the irons are so clear. Only thing I’d consider is an ACOG or a thermal. The red dot seems like a waste of space.
Here are my current favourite set-ups.
1) Lots of explosive power, I run around a lot when I’m using this.
Primary: M4 Grenade launcher
Secondary: AT4
Perks: Sleight of hand Stopping power Melee range
2) My general purpose set-up for calculated gameplay, silencer to keep it quiet, heartbeat sensor for some caution.
Primary SCAR Silencer HBS
Secondary: AA12 (can anyone say room clearer!)
Perks: Bling (haven’t unlocked bling 2) Hardline (easy kill streaks – care package at 3 kills = awesome) Radar jammer (I don’t even know what this does, does it hide me on UAV?)
Whats the difference between a holo sight and the red dot? Its just a dot, no?
Ps. My PSN ID is ozkhan81, so add me if you ever want to play.

I'll be playing on PS3 as well as soon as I either get it fixed or replace it but it may not be til after the new year, depending on cost.
Supposedly the holo sight has more auto aim but I haven't noticed. I do like the FOV better on it.

No wonder I haven't seen you online in the last little while. Sucks to hear about your PS3.
The slight auto-aim in mutliplayer irritates me to no end. It should be shoot where you aim so that your skills are factoring into the kill more than having the crosshair in your target's proximity.

Yeah the blu ray drive is dead. I can still play games that are downloaded from PSN but nothing on a disc. I was on the last chapter of Uncharted 2 when it died You can turn off the auto aim in the multiplayer options (at least you can on the 360).

I dont know but the last 2 days I'm playing with :
Primary : Riot Shield Secondary: 2nd shotgun (dont remember the name....) Flash Blast Shield
Marathon Pro Cold Bloded Commando Pro
Incradible for small map!!! you can sneak up guys, then bash them with the sheild! If they see you before, just crouch and wait for him to empty his magazine on you (hehehe), then sprint and bash ^^
or you go silently with your shotgun but the guy is behind you, shooting at you... but your sheild is on your back protecting you ^^
The best map so far in the one on the Skyscrappers rooftops

There is auto-aim in multiplayer? You can turn it off in the options menu.

Technically it's "sticky" aim, the sensitivity lowers when you pass your xhairs over an enemy. Lots of console shooters do it.

My two set-ups that I posted earlier work great for regular mode, but playing hardcore - I’ve switched to cold blooded and ninja pro with my silenced SCAR with HBS setup. They never see what hit them.
Strike, move, strike move. Love taking out campers like that.

So I ditched the Javelin. It was fun for a while, but yawn.
I have an AA build with the stinger, it seems more effective at taking enemy air out than the AT4 and locks on more quickly than the javelin.
Want to try something fun? Try this for a round or two:
Marathon Lightweight Commando or Ninja Pro
You will fly across the map and can get behind the enemy very quickly. This is especially effective against squads who generally turtle up in their spawn - you get there before they're set up and wreak chaos in their plan. Often it's a quick and easy 3 kills, and then they're constantly looking out for you making them more vulnerable to the frontal attack. (So, then switch to your regular class.)

Here are my 3 setups for all modes.
LVL 47
1. M4A1 with grenade launcher and acog usp 45 with fmj and extended mag frag and flashx2 bling pro hardline pro last stand martyrdom for d.s.
2. Intervention rifle with fmj and silencer usp 45 with silencer and extended mag claymore and smoke bling pro cold blooded ninja final stand for d.s.
3. Famas with red dot M93 Raffica with extended mag C4 and flashx2 scavenger pro stopping power pro ninja martydom for d.s.
I dont change any of my sets cuz all 3 work for me. set 2 is my #1 choice and set 1 is 2nd. I use #3 when I play on favela, rust and under pass.

One weapon I'm learning to really like is the AUG. Once you get the Grip and the Red Dot it's very accurate and does a good deal of damage. It also has a large clip.

I always like the TAR21 in games, so far I'm sticking with it. TAR21 silencer grenade launcher (I don't care if it's cheap, it's my equalizer for slower reflexes than everyone else) AT4 Semtex Smoke (I use smoke a lot since I play Domination almost exclusively now)
Perks: Bling Cold Blooded Steady Aim (whatever it's called)
I'm used to iron sites now, the red dot makes no difference. The ACOG is practically useless on almost all maps. The silencer helps with accuracy it seems. I know once I get claymores I'll be using those, but I don't have them yet.

Claymores were my favorite slot 1 perk in 4, I wish they didn't replace my frags but I still love them.

Wow... I just started playing this game online via XBox Live. I'm getting addicted! I never played any of the COD's online, but did do a little BF2. Right now, I'm such a (40 year old) noob, that I'm continually getting my a$$ kicked by all the 12 year olds out there who have all the maps memorized. Please tell me my skills will get better! ha ha ha!!!!

Now sometimes I do 3k-1d, or break even, or have bad days. But I never get 'owned' any more.

I usually have two custom assault kits, two custom spec opts type kits, and a custom sniper kit.
I call my custom spec opts type kits "Operative1" and "Operative2"
I think thus far my favorite sub machine gun is the vector. This is one of my heavily used kits:
-Vector w/ red dot sight and suppressor -flash bangs -knife -bling perk -move faster perk -steady aim perk
I just unlocked one of my favorite assault rifles thus far. The FAL. I think I really take to it because its single shot semi-automatic. I really wish the other weapons like the M-4 had a fire select mode because I really like them too. But I more often than not like a single shot mode. So my "Assault2" kit which is also now one of my more heavily used kits is as follows:
-FAL w/ red dot sight and suppressor -flashbangs -tactical insertion -bling perk -move faster perk -steady aim
My "Sniper" kit is now set up to use the M-4. I just recently unlocked the acog for this so that is why I switched my sniper rifle to this set up. I like the balance between zoom and situational awareness of the acog and the increased rounds on target of the M-4. Plus it feels less clunky so that I can move around faster as a sniper. I really hate seeing people running and gunning with the sniper rifle and getting off crazy pot shots with it.

I've been using SMG's here lately. I use the vector with rapid fire and red dot. I have bling, hardline, and I forgot what the third perk is.
Had a rough night online last night. Seemed to be getting shot from every perceivable direction. Do you guys ever notice that some nights you own the maps and other nights it's the opposite. Kind of like a craps table.

I had a very rough night last night. Late in the evening I ended up in match where half the guys were 30+ PRESTIGE!!! I was owned. And they let me know about it. The first match I was 0-4 (got in real late, just the last couple of minutes). They ragged on me for "losing the match" for them. We only lost by 200 points so I could see their logic. The next match I was like 3-11, then something like 6-16. I was constantly getting shot from behind. It was very frustrating but I didn't quit. Eventually I was just about breaking even at 8-9 and 9-11. Not too bad.
Then I moved to another match with players more evenly matched and I was kicking butt. Only lost one match and I was overall leading scorer several times. So, you just never know.
As much as skill plays a factor, luck also plays a BIG factor in the game. I can't count how many times I'm shot by someone just as I turn away from a spot from which they emerge and walk right in front of them. On another map I was killed by a grenade. The killcam showed the guy blindly throwing a grenade over TWO buildings and the thing landed in my LAP as I'm crouched behind cover. I use Cold Blooded so I don't show on radar or the map. Talk about luck. Unbe-frickin-lievable.
Still, it's all good. I had fun, that's all that counts.

For some reason I always get rocked when using the AUG – but do really well with RPD. Cant understand it, since the AUG has better stats.

What's everyone's kill ratios here?
I'm at 1.32.
I've brought it up from 0.87, so you can imagine the killing that had to be done to get there.

I think it is in the "Barracks" screen. It will show your kills and deaths on the right side. Divide your kills by your deaths and you get you K/D ratio.

Quickcord You can also go into the leaderboards in there and there is a kills section that will list you and all your friends kills, deaths, and k/d ratio. My k/d ratio is terrible. like 0.35 or something. But I keep getting matched up with guys way above me experience-wise. The last few times I have played it is me, 1-3 guys withing like 3 ranks (almost always above me though) and then a bunch of guys in the 40+ range. I need to get together with some of you guys and get some teamwork going.

But they never gave anyone crap except their buddies for pawning them which was funny to hear them go back and forth. But my games just aren't as enjoyable when coms and teamwork aren't used.

I'm on most nights from 6-8pm EST and then sometimes from 10-11pm EST.
I always check my Friend's List to see if there's a game I can jump into (Join Session In Progress). If not I just play alone. But, I continue to check my FL between rounds. I'll accept an invite from someone if it's feasible. Sometimes I get invites just as I'm about to quit or while I'm in the middle of a match. If I'm playing well I won't quit because I want the points! LOL!

I tried inviting you few times the other night Leemz. I also tried to see if I could join your game but I couldn't find an option for that. If you can be on between 6 and 8 I'll try to pop on there and maybe we could play a few rounds. If you want to set up a specific time maybe we can meet up. I can't go too late tonight.

Coot, I got your invite the other day but sorry I couldn't join you. I was in the middle of a game with a full team at the time. I definetly would have liked to have teamed up with you. I've enjoyed playing with anyone from SimHQ so keep looking me up.
Of course right now I'm out of commission until my Xbox is repaired (RROD) but I should be back within a week or so.

I saw you the other night but you were not joinable at the time so I chased down Raw Kryptonite Bisher I would have sent you a few invites already because we seem to be on a lot at the same times but you have been playing quite a bit of Dragon Age lately so I didn't want to interrupt. I figured if you wanted to play MW2 you wouldn't be playing DA.

Holy Crap, last night was my worse night EVER! Coot and I got together and I couldn't stay alive longer than 30 seconds it seemed. Got so pissed I had to just shut the game off, the team we were playing against were just really good and seemed to come from every direction. Sorry Coot for just jumping like that, I was swearing way to much in front of my kids.... Didn't get any better last night after 10:30, just chocked it up as I wasn't meant to play. But I did finally make it to 1st Lt 2...

Ya it sure is frustrating sometimes, I think over time we get more accustomed to getting our asses kicked and the swearing will eventually drop.(at least it did for me, now I say small swears under my breath lol) You did kill me a few times Dave, ya bugger

Kill ratio pops up in Barracks, when you select - leaderboards -> kills. It is tough, I get those nights out there too where you run into a team so good that they're everywhere! The minute you turn a corner, or move 2 inches someone whacks you. Like last night... what an epic disaster that was. Then there are nights where I'm doing the whacking... lopsided world of COD I suppose. I have some friends that play online and its fun to play together, also have Airjawa from here join me here and there. Although we usually end up killing each other since he's pretty good too... If anyone else is on PSN, ozkhan81. See you out there..

Yep, definitely have my good days and bad days (or good matches and bad matches). First couple of matches last night I led my team. Then I was in the bottom 3 for the next few.
Here are my class set-ups (I gave ‘em names cuz I like it that way): ---------------------------------------------- “Assault” SCAR w/ red dot G18
Frags/Flashbangs
Slight of Hand Stopping Power Steady Aim
Copy Cat ------------------------------------------- “Light” P-90 (hopefully soon with red dot Spaz-12
Frags/Flashbangs
Marathon Cold Blooded Steady Aim
Copy Cat ---------------------------------------------- “Heavy” MG-4 w/ red dot AT-4
Frags/Flashbangs
Slight of Hand Stopping Power Steady Aim
Copy Cat ---------------------------------------------- “Sniper” Intervention (I think) PP-2000 w/ red dot
Frags/Smoke
Slight of Hand Stopping Power Steady Aim
Copy Cat ----------------------------------------------- “Misc” M4 w/ red dot AT-4
Frags/Flashbangs
Marathon Stopping Power Steady Aim
Copy Cat ----------------------------------------------
Assault is my generic "go to" class" I usually start each map with. Then I'll switch to one of the others depending on how the match is being played.
This early, I expect these to change quite a bit still. But eventually, I get everything just right so I have a class for every situation.

Hey Top Gun no problem. No game is worth your peace and joy. Its better just to hang it up until another day. I have those days too. Sometimes I seem to do pretty well and can hold my own. Then other times and I can't function worth beans and get my backside kicked and handed to me. Then sometimes I start to wonder if a game is really as smoothly designed as it appears or if there is really something broken inside somewhere that can't really be pinpointed and is in fact the one to be blamed for inconsistency. Then I stew on this, usually talking angrily to myself in the process. I tell you what though, I find that when I play this even a couple of hours before going to sleep, I or someone else is running around shooting in my dreams. I just unlocked the Steyr Aug light machine gun and really like it. I also just unlocked the handle grip for it but I have not tried that out yet. Now I just need a proper site.

Ran into some frustration tonight. I did pretty well. However I noticed something funny about this kill someone got on me at close range. I could have sworn I was away from his shots that he fired when he killed me. Sure enough I watch the replay and as he fired, his cross hairs were nowhere near being on me. He shot way off to the left of me with his cross hairs not remotely touching me or even being near me for that matter. They were just way off somewhere to the left yet his rounds still somehow killed me. I won't stop playing it but that's absolute baloneeeee! Its almost as if his cross hairs had a "memory" of being over me at one point in the encounter and as he fired with his aim not being on me whatsoever it decided to kill me. That may not be the case but it sure goes to show you that there are still potentially game killing quirks within the game's mechanics. I know things can't always be perfect but man that's annoying to the tenth degree. Hit detection was non-existent in that situation. As a side note I unlocked a red dot site and silencer for my Steyr Aug light machine gun.

Cool on the unlock Coot.
You need to be careful when interpreting online replays, sometimes they don't represent what actually happened. I remember this phenom being an issue with IL2 tracks. At least I hope your kill cam was not representative of the situation

Isn't there a rapid fire perk that kind of Sprays bullets as well? I know when you select this perk it shows 3-4 bullets spraying out instead of online. I've seen this perk kill me MANY times unfortunately...

It increases the ROF, so yeah, you spray bullets all over the place with that one.

I've seen this perk kill me MANY times unfortunately... I use it with the silencer on the UMP. If you hold the trigger down it's pretty inaccuate but if you burst it's very devestating.

Does anyone else feel that the red dot sight is better than the Holographic one? Yes. Although I think I like the ACOG the best.

I like the ACOG. I still don't know what the benefit of the holographic site is. I put the red dot site on the TAR, and wasn't a big fan. I need to get it so I can unlock the other goodies though.

Thanks for the explanations bisher. I hope that's the case because going by the replay last night it looked bogus. Kind of concerning and disheartening when you see something like that in your game.
I prefer the red dot site. I've unlocked the holographic site for some weapons but it just looks and feels blah. I like the precision and spacial awareness that the red dot site provides.

I have been experimenting with the P90 and MG4 for the past day or two. I still like the SCAR as my main weapon though.
Anyone going to try to play tonight? I should be on so if you see me feel free to either join or send an invite.

I recently unlocked the M16 and I'm not a fan of the 3 shot burst. I prefer the SCAR with bling

It just takes some getting used to. I have only used it in 2 or 3 games but I find it to be very accurate. The three round burst is not a problem if you are getting consistant headshots with it.

I have been owning people with this set up:
TAR-21 w/ grenade launcher AA-12 w/ red dot
Frags and Flash bangs Last Stand
Slight of Hand Stopping Power Steady Aim
UAV (3) Air Drop (4) Predator (5)
This set up is great for everything except for a TDM or HC TDM on a large map, just because the TAR-21 doesn't have a red dot or ACOG. I usually switch to a SCARH with ACOG on the larger map TDM.
But for everything else, the TAR-21 and Grenade launcher (especially with stopping power) are just nails.

Just started playing on hardcore TDM and HQ pro the other day and loving it. I am getting way more kills (since in normal mode I just tend to wound people as they run past me). I have been switching back and forth between these 3 classes:
Default Hardcore class:
SCAR-H w/ ACOG and Heartbeat sensor AA-12 with grip and red dog Flashbangs Claymore Bling Pro Hardline Pro Ninja
Machine Gun class:
AUG HBAR w/ grip and red dot sight Stinger flashbangs Claymore Bling Pro Stopping Power Pro Steady Aim Pro
Sniper class:
Barrett .50 w/ silencer and ACOG Stinger flashbangs Claymore Bling Pro Cold Blooded Steady Aim Pro
I think I am going to switch my secondary on my default class from the shotgun to maybe a pistol or machine pistol. I find that I really don't use my secondary as much in hardcore though since I either have time to reload or die before I can swap weapons due to the lower health. I also just realized that steady aim pro isn't doing much for me in my machine gun class without the on-screen HUD stuff I get 99% of my kills through the sights. I am working on unlocking the heartbeat sensor for the Barrett and AUG at the moment, although I like the ACOG on the AUG and might just leave that on there with the grip.
