Hi all

I find that when running BOBII, the main menu is 1024x768, the campaign runs at 1920x1200, then selecting an aircraft to fly from the campaign screen is again at 1024x768 and the 3d flight is 1920x1200.

The constant resolution switching where my screen goes momentarily black is going on my nerves.

So, I tried ATI GPU scaling "Scale to full size" and that still has the screen go black temporarily, even though when it comes back it's showing 1920x1200 on the OSM also in the main menu. So the Full Size scaling kicks in, but doesn't solve the problem.

I then tried "Centered Timings" which has the 1024 menu in the middle of the screen, with black bars around it. Which is fine by me, but my question is if there's any chance that this might damage or cause troubles either with the GPU or the Screen.

The positive thing is that "Centered Timings" have the screen stay constantly at 1920x1200, so it solves the initial problem. But I don't want to "brute force" anything negative on my 800EUR Dell, so I'm careful (some might say paranoid wink ).

Thanks for your help.

RS

I would be nice if more sims have custom GUI resolutions (like Lock On does). 1024x768 is understandable, though; a developer has to pick a res that is compatible with all display hardware.

Well I find that most sims these days (and games in general) can handle 1920x1200 native. The Thirdwire stuff can be modded, FSX and FS9 get it, Lock On gets around by running windowed in the menu. In fact out of 10 installed games, BobII is the only one to switch resolution inside the menu. Double annoying because going from campaign map to the cockpit switches twice.

I think part of my dislike to resolution switching has been ingrained back on the old 19" LCD which gave an annoying "clang" everytime it switched. But more important, I just want my screen to run at it's best and without damage.
