So, I install fine so it seems, double click on the short cut for the .exe, screen goes black as to load the intro screen, then I get black/white boxes which are the highlight of the windows error box and I can make out two buttons, but can not read the error or anything else as its blacked out.

Anyone seen something like this before?

My system isn't the issue, though maybe I am missing something required by the game, or something software/file wise I need to look @.

There is no point in doing a screen shot, as it doesn't show any information. I have to alt-tab to get back to desktop to close out the game in taskmanager.

I can play Jane's F18 fine, and 688, as well as a few other titles but not LB2.

So I came across this forum, maybe someone can point me in the right direction or is this a lost cause?

Tried running in Win98 compatibility mode?

If not that, try limiting your system memory or use the Compatibility Administrator to restrict memory that LB2 sees. The first can be accomplished by going to System>Advanced>Performance Options>Advanced>Virtual Memory and either reducing maximum paging file size to 512 or setting no paging file. The second can be referenced here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/317510 - the second option takes a little bit more effort to setup but the first one will often require you to switch the paging file on and off depending on applications you want to run.

phelan, it could help if you post your system's specifications inclduing graphics driver/card...are you trying to use a Glide wrapper...did you install patch(es). IIRC, the D3D patch, while not necessary, provides a convenient config file which can be used outside the sim to select which mode - D3D, Glide, etc.

Moments like this, +G comes to mind, and then I remember...even his great site is gone now. Kevin, we'll never forget you.

However, thanks to the Wayback Machine, here is a link to all the info you might find helpful for running LB2:

Follow the links in the index for various steps and options.

That is great, Flyboy - I'm sure a number of people will benefit from your rescue of +G's work over time. Very glad to hear you were able to do this.
