Hello,

I just received WOV and YAP2 and although I can get into the cockpit the simulation will crash to the desktop or reboot the computer 100% of the time.

I've installed, removed three times. Once where I just installed all at once and twice where I installed each and ran the simulation then rebooted, installed the next patch, ran the sim and repeated till everything was installed. The only thing to note is that when I use the first disk, WOV, the sim wouldn't even run. But after Patch1 from the YAP2 disk it ran fine.

The Gila Bend training mission I get near the tanker then crash.

I have a P4 3.0G with 2Gig ram and an ATI 9600 graphics card. All with new drivers. I am running WinXP Pro with SP3.

I turn off the virus and all other running programs.

I'm using the DVI output from the video card to a Viewsonic monitor.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, it seems that the person from YAP2 who is supposed to help hasn't gotten the message or is too busy to reply yet. Like all of us.

Sure looks like a nice simulation.

Thanks

I had ATI cards and SF/WOV never did seem to quite like them. Try rolling back the drivers to 8.5. and turning off the anti aliasing. I think thats the one it was most happy with. Make sure your game resolution is the same as your screen resolution. Turn off the shadows in game.

8 L.E.I.N.,

Thanks for the help.

Well after a week of many emails with John and Mike at YAP it seems the WOV disk may have errors. When I install WOV as a stand alone the simulation won't run. It'll only run once I go to the second disk i.e. YAP2 and install the patches, but then I have crashes in the simulation.

A replacement disk is on the way.

In the meantime I've replaced my old ATI 9600 XT 128Meg video card with a Nvidia Geforce 7600 256Meg card. I also have 2Gig of ram installed and the computer is running great!

Here's my video card settings:
Any suggestions on what each item should be set to?

Anisotropic Filtering App. Controlled
Anitaliasing -Gamma Correction OFF
Antialiasing - Setting App Controlled
Antialiasing - Transparency OFF
Conformant texture clamp Use Hardware
Extenison Limit OFF
Max Pre-rendered Frames 3
Multi-display/mixed GPU acceleration Multiple display performance mode
Texture filtering - Anisotropic mip filter OFF
Texure filtering - Anisotropic sample ON
Texture filtering - Negative LOD bias ALLOW
Textue filtering - Qualit QUALITY
Texture filtering - Trilinear Optimization ON
Triple buffering OFF
Vertical Sync USE 3d App Setting.

I'm running WinXP with a P4 3.0 Gig processor and 2Gig of RAM.

Thanks so much for the help!

SOLVED!

Thanks so much for all the help. So far I have three complete missions in WOV and one in YAP2, two different installs and no crashes! Yahoo!

I'm convinced that it was the memory running in dual channel. Since switching to single channel all is good.

Now to learn how to bomb and tweak a few settings.

Happy Holidays!
