I have a serious question here. Wouldn't it be cheaper to just buy a $200 freezer and stuff the whole friggin computer in there. You could drill a few holes in the door if you have to. Seriously?

Condensation would prevent you doing that.

I remember way back in the early 2000s, my now ex-wife hated air-conditioning and I had a hot running AMD XP2100 processor and a TI-4600 video card. She was from the tropical country of Venezuela and would complain about any temperature cooler than 75F in the heat of the summer. Needless to say, I couldn't run my PC at that temp, so I had the front bedroom of my house as my study and computer room and used a window air conditioner to cool just the one room. I had it about 65F in that room. The temperature change going in and out of the room was insane. I slept in there too. My ex was a such a prissy thing about cool temps. In the winter I just opened the window a crack, was a lot easier in the winter.

Well I think I know what to get now. A good air cooler...heat sink a good gaming case and that should be it.

The initial startup costs might be high but if you think about it how often are you going to be changing pumps and radiators?
Generally the cpu blocks have been interchangable so one of those should last a couple or more years, the exception to this rule has been the i7 series. For me peace and quiet is worth the money and also the reassurance that I have nothing in the case that is seriously warm. Lower temps and more gradual temp buildup = longer component life. I've never had a cpu or gpu go since I converted to water cooling around 5 years ago and I generally overclock a bit, free performance should be used right? thumbsup
The biggest expense these days are the all in one graphics card blocks which is understandable since they are using more power with every generation with the associated heat and noise.
