Hi,

I am somewhat stuck in the third campaigne mission, the one where you have to assault the beach, hunt AT teams, clean the village and thereafter you have to hold it. It is the last open objective in my list. I am spawning in the southern end of the village with my team, near the sandbags with the MG. No matter how hard I try, it always ends up with a radio message reporting "heavy contact" and the mission is a fail. I fear, I am missing something.
I am somewhat unacustomed to tactical shooters, never really got the grip on ARMA but would like to get into it. OFP DR seemed a good start. Either I have made a decision before that spoils my success and I would have to start over the mission or I am expected to do something else with my man. Perhaps it would help if I could assign them to the MG-positions and do personally something else meanwhile?

Any advice appreciated.

you can assign a soldier to a stationary gun by choosing him and then placing the command cursor on the gun and you will be able to assign him to operate it.

have one of your soldiers man the gun and order the other 2 to defend him.

Kramer, that did the trick. I assigned each team member to a different gun and defended them by myself. I hate to admit it, but I had to look in map mode where the PLA was creeping up in order to intercept them. It also struck me as a serious flaw that none of the numerous friendly AI mates around manned the MG positions.
Perhaps I am now getting into it to a degree where the reasons to complaint become visible.

Another assist for the village defense portion of the mission (you don't need it since you've finished but perhaps some other poor soul) is to seed your claymores through the woods to your left front as you face outward from the gun position besides the road.

I placed some Claymores in front of the sandbags and aside the street, to the coast, but I don't think I got someone. Kramer had a post here temporarily (i don't know if he deleted it or something else went wrong), where he advised me that later on in that mission a Hawk with reinforcements would land. I think I already spawned with that Hawk landed, at least there is a Hawk at the northern side of the road, so I may have started the finale battle with too less men. Probably explains my difficulties.

Thx for your suggestion.
