I'm am feeling like the only idiot who bought this 'game'. I bought this title with a bit of trepidation as it was so long in the making - now it would seem they released it regardless of its suitability. I mean, almost none of the commands work! I cant turn the boat, enter the 1st person views (although i could the 1st time I launched the game), fire the guns, launch the torpedoes.. .virtually no commands works except for forwards and back.

Totally disappointed with this - its going straight back to the shop, what a waste of money and time. I truely hope the developers/publishers dont get a red cent from my purchase - I will not buy another of their titles again.

Funnily enough, another rediculously hopeless title came out using the IL-2 engine - I cant even remember the name of it even though I bought it, some kind of 'Land Strategey' game. It would seem that the Russian developers are getting a good game engine, making some nice graphics and putting it out to market without worrying if it will work!

That's a bit strange considering I have the Australian version and it works perfectly well for me. As to the key commands, you did get a manual with the game didn't you? The only errors I have noticed in the key commands are the L key & K keys have been transposed in the manual L being for the search light and K being for the message bar also the right mouse button is used to activate the binocs. Note that the larger ships destroyers, cruisers, merchants etc are third person only ie you cannot man their guns you can only order them to shoot at something and control their course/speed/repairs/formations. Note also that during the tutorial missions some key functions are purposefully locked out to allow the player to focus on the task at hand perhaps this has been your source of difficulty.

PT-Boats does not use the IL2 engine present in 1C titles it uses the Storm III engine Akella developed themselves for their earlier pirate games.

1C the IL2 developer has had nothing to do with the game for quite some time.

I'd suggest you give the game another chance as it is actually pretty good once it gets going. I appreciate your frustration but I'd also suggest you use slightly less inflammatory trollworthy headings for your posts, they are unlikely to elict a helpful response and do not exactly help the games in this niche genre survive.

Patently ridiculous. I was able to modify the frigging Russian-based demo to get most of these things to work and you're saying they don't work in the retail game.

You are seriously mistaken as to the ability to control this game.

By the way guys.
Is the campaign similar too the silent hunter campaigns?
Is there a seperate one for each nation?
Is there a mission editor?

The game is mission based rather than having a dynamic campaign in the mould of Silent Hunter. As released in Australia consists of 6 episodes. (The forthcoming Battlefront release may have changes).

1 Naval Academy: 3 missions playable as Royal Navy
2 Exercises at Weser: 5 missions playable as German or Royal Navy
3 The English Channel:5 missions playable as German vs Royal Navy
4 Cold Waters (Baltic Sea) 5 missions playable as USSR
5 Land In sight 5 missions playable as Germany or USSR
6.Bonus Episode consisting of 4 missions

Note that although the some of the episodes have geographical titles there is little coastline in the game most missions consist only of open sea or open sea with a couple of nameless small islands. This is probably due to the fact that the maps are only about 25KM square.

The "South Gambit" screens and video suggest we will we will see more actual coastline incorporated in the addon when it appears, hopefully Battlefront will be publishing that too?

As it stands the game has no editor at present, Akella have stated they are working on one and hopefully will put one out at some point but the mission scripts are in a very open and easy to edit format so the talented modders over at the likes of Subsim.com or marinesims.de will no doubt put together a nice editor at some point.

You can put together multiplayer matches against bots but there is no access to the higher tactical functions in this mode it is more of a "deathmatch" style approach.
