I am a Palm Pre (work) and Garmin Nuviphone (home) guy myself. Now, this may be biased because I'm in Garmin country, but can you get turn by turn directions while speaking? If a call comes in, on the Droid, doesn't that stop the turn by turn?

I'm with Speedo, Corsair, and Airdrop. I love my Pre. More apps would be nice, but there are a lot of good beta ones available online so far.

I've had an iPhone for over a year now, and I still love it just as much as the first day I got it. I don't think I'll ever get another cell phone after the iPhone.

I just say that the Palm Pre is a very excellent phone. Just doesn't meet my needs - but that does not mean it's a bad phone.

If a call comes in, on the Droid, doesn't that stop the turn by turn? Nope. I've had incoming calls and have made calls while using the GPS, as well as having it on speakerphone and playing music all at the same time. There is a desktop dock for it too that turns it into a multimedia station--digital photo frame, clock, weather station, phone charger, etc...basically all the features of the phone available with a special dock screen. I found that if you use it in the car (it uses the same power input as the phone so a car charger works fine) and you secure it on your dashboard--you don't need one of those GPS holders. Pretty nifty and only costs $30. Some things I wish it did have but I'm sure it will soon. Voice activation through a Bluetooth headset. It has voice dialing but I haven't found it to be very good in the 6 days I've had the phone. The speakerphone is loud enough and clear enough (even for your called party) that you might not even need the headset though...I'm considering dumping mine. A better accelerometer where no matter where you turn the phone it would flip the screen would be nice, but not necessary. Right now if you turn it counterclockwise, it will flip, but it you turned it clockwise or upside down, it won't. Not a big deal but when the phone is plugged in and you turn it counterclockwise, the jack gets in the way. I think they did that in case you mount it in a GPS holder and want it plugged into a charger. v6, boNes

I hopped on board with the Droid for my first smartphone. Frankly I'm a bit overwhelmed with the possibilities, most of which while reading I end up thinking "I didn't know that existed...". I welcome more suggestions and thanks for the ones already given.

Hobbit,
It too is my first smartphone. I just used a cardiometer on it that I downloaded...and it was scary. Using the GPS it tracked my running route and drew it on a Google map. Using this, it timed my pace, gave me my distance, and told me how many calories I burned and then saved it to a log so I can refer to it later. Even offered to uploa dit to a server for safekeeping and such. I'm surprised that it didn't take a blood sample, send it to the lab, and come back with my cholesterol! but that's probably V2.0.
Wow.
If you find anything new and neat on it, let me know!

The fun thing about this thread for me is that I have no clue what the hell anyone is talking about! I think it might have to do with some sort of fancy phones. I had a cell phone once. It was a baby blue Alcatel One Touch. It looked like an ugly brick. My sister-in-law needed a cell phone so I gave it to her. When I offered it to her, she asked, "Are you sure? Why do you want to get rid of it?" "It keeps ringing!" I told her. True story. So, tell me, why would anyone want to have people ringing them up no matter where they were? Has everyone completely lost their minds? Mrs. Sauron has a hard time keeping me from drawing my sidearm and sending the regular phone to hell when it rings! Why would you blight your life with a cell phone? I'm serious! And if you say, "I have to have it for my job," you need a new job! Cheers! Rick...
