I've been obsessing about doing a massive campaign involving almost every stock 4.09 map and lots of jets to recreate a 1946 "what if" on a Soviet invasion. I've got it all mapped out and thought out. I need to know would it be better to try using my tried and true method of doing individual missions using the FMB and linking them or try and learning Lowengrin's DCG. I have no idea what can be done in DCG or even a vague notion of how it does its magic.

Can someone give me a quick idea of what DCG does and can it be used to link different maps together in one big campaign? Is it easier to use DCG for my purpose than to painstakingly place everything in LMB? Can I incorporate a map that has never been used in a DCG campaign? Can you start a DCG campaign from scratch? Is there a tutorial anywhere (I can't find it if there is)?

I appreciate any assistance and I'll fill you in later with more on my ideas about a huge jet campaign based on Plan Griddle. The plan to counter a Soviet invasion in 1946-48.

Well I've done a couple of missions and it's pretty easy to get the Soviets to fight the US in FMB but I still can't get an answer on if it is possible to make a whole nation switch sides in DCG.

The mission is very fun by the way. I've got IL10s doing ground attacks with Tempests trying to stop them with MiG 9 flying fighter cover and YP80s taking on the MiGs. At the same time a flight of TU2s make a bombing run covered by Yak 15s and a squadron of Go 229 tries to shoot em down. Then a flight of P38L Late tries to sneak in the back door and take out the attacking Soviet armor and they get jumped by some Yak 9s all on the online 4 map. You know the one with all the mountains. It's a hoot so far.

DCG is a very good, and best gen in the sim world, in my book. just tell it what you want, and there you have it. One thing though, you may have to use a mission tuning program to change a/c and such.

My plan is to mix and match the German wonder weapons. My theory is that each side would have aquired their own German scientists just as it happened in real life. Both the Soviet and US rocket programs were filled with former Germans.

So for example one of the major goals of the "NATO" forces was to attack the soft under belly of the USSR by strategic bombing from bases in Egypt. This was a major component in Joint Chiefs of Staff Plan Griddle if war broke out in 1946-50.

With this in mind I would like to have the Soviets concentrate on intercepting the US B29 bombers escorted by a few ME 262s, YP80s and long range late model P51/P47/P38s. The Soviets using their captured scientists and prototypes would counter with BI 6, ME 163, HE Lerch III with missiles, Yak 9s and maybe a few Lagg 7Rs.

The whole idea of the campaign is to use all the odd ball wonder weapons and jets in a reasonably historical context flying over the majority of the stock maps.

It should be a hoot if I do it right.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I've gotten another mission done.

This is a bridgehead scenario where the "NATO" forces have to keep the Soviets from overrunning an area until a series of trains and convoys have made their way over the bridges and then blow the bridges. It involves lots of late model prop planes and a few jets on the NATO side. Another side story is that there are a couple of production models of the Go 229, TA 183 and the DO 335 that the NATO forces try to fly out before the Soviets arrive.

The Soviets have to stop the wonder weapons from getting away, eliminate the trains and convoys and then defend the bridges. They have an overwhelming number of planes to do the job with.

Sounds like fun, how many missions are you planning to have in your campaign?

So I'm getting carried away as usual with my missions.

I have all sorts of useless action going on but I just can't help my self.

I mean does it really matter that there are actually tanks about to cross that bridge before you blow it with your flight of P47Ds or that at the same time some P38Ls are wasting another bunch of bunch of Soviet tanks at the the other bridge 2 miles north or that at the same time their is a huge air superiority battle being fought at 30,000 feet between YP80s, ME262s and Lagg7Rs or that at the same time RAF Tempests are lifting off to clean up any other armored units in the area or that there are 12 Lagg 7s and Yak 9s patrolling the area all being shot at by AAA and two trains full of ammo and fuel are racing away from the bridge?

Well the answer is no. So I've decided to use my obsession and create multiple campaigns using the same mission.

So out of that mission there will be a mission for the 47D pilot campaign and a mission for the Yak 9 campaign and a mission for the YP80 campaign and a mission for the ME262 campaign, etc.

So I will have about maybe 30 missions in each campaign with probably 10 campaigns all using the same 30 missions but from a different viewpoint. Get it?

I'm insane I tell you absolutely mad.

Anyone want to help?
