This was my first attempt at goin' online w/ "Rise of Flight: The First Great Air War"! I approached Biff w/ the idea after he had announced that he was gonna spend some time playin' ArmA II, and after a few false starts and some technical difficulties, we managed to squeeze in ~1 hour of actual flyin'. It was difficult for us to find each other over the front, which resulted in a grand total of just 2 dogfights between myself and Biff, both w/ mixed results. My engine died during our first dogfight after I went inverted and I was too low to recover, and Biff suffered a similar situation during our last dogfight in which he was forced to ditch his plane in the water before I could finish him off!

Although it was difficult for us to get started, I'm still very interested in expanding on the experience, and Biff had also expressed a desire to participate in more online dogfights. If anyone is interested, feel free to speak up!

It's funny, and a little sad really, because after all of these years of flight simulation experience, this is only my second online experience! My first was a couple of years ago when Dart invited a few of us "Armed Assault" grunts to fly some "IL-2 Sturmovik: 1946". I remember havin' fun, but up until tonight, that was it. I can't really explain why I've neglected the online community, but I think I'm finally ready to jump in!

An ArmA II regular online squadron would be cool...

Oooh, RoF multiplayer is the ultimate in Humility Therapy!

Just when I think I've gotten pretty good in the sim I hop into a server and get taken down a notch or two.

I have got to learn to pilot more than the N17, as its rarely available, and these other planes are too fast and zippy!

Nice post

It does give you a sense of how hard it is to keep track of someone.

Yup, despite the technical issues, it was fun. And now that I have my technical issues worked out I will need to work on learning how to fly these things. biggrin

Hey I'm downloading the demo now to try it out.
Finally decided to give it a try,
If I end up getting it I would totally be up for joining a SimHQ Arma Rise of Flight squad
