I just got this game and have to say it looks amazing, I have a TrackIR 5 and that has been driving most of my game purchases lately.

I know the controls for the stick and rudder are done "in-game" so my question is: Does anyone here have a tried and true hotas key assignment set up they love/like already created, and if so, could you be so kind to share it? I'd like to jump right into the game without the test of my hotas step. I don't mind plugging the controls into the stick section, but I know there are a lot of pros out there who have way more experience in the sim than I, and I'm hoping to benefit from their experience.

Ideally I'd like to use every button on my X45 even the M1-2-3 switch alternate set. Is there a good logic to setting up say; Nav to the M1 switch, set and attack to the M2 set, and something else to the M3 set? If I start using the mode selector features do I have to also set the primary functions I want to carryover again for the that set, ie; target, weapon switching, cyclic/collective, etc. or are the unaffected as they reside on the stick and not the throttle.

Sorry this is such a long winded question, I have only used about a third of my X45s buttons in the past and don't know the particulars. Thanks in advance for any help you may give me.

Incidentally, where is the best online experience for this game, and how does it rate? are they coop or adversarial?

-Chris

I can't help you with a profile but I'd recommend to set the controls up yourself. It's not that hard and in the end you know what each button on your setup does (hopefully). If you want to use someone elses setup you might try the Saitek forums.

Have fun!

Thanks Tbag, I'm slowly getting the hang of what is a HOTAS priority for the game so you're right I should tackle it, to make it more custom to my needs. I'll check the Forum for some tips thanks, hadn't thought of that.

I'm in the process of key mapping BS commands to both my X52 Pro and my macro-rich X6 Microsoft gaming keyboard. I focused on basic flight control via the AP functions and their various modes. I really have not even begun weapon control mapping yet because I'm focused of being able to take off and fly a route of way points cleanly in total control. I created a nav-training mission in the editor to test the effectiveness of my mapping. I real happy with my progress and once I have it dialed I'm happy to post and overview. This sim, for me, is more difficult than Falcon 4 to decide what commands go where, due to the SHEAR number of commands available.

Gawd I love that sim...Black Shark is incredible.

Quickly, I have mapped the AP function of the Right Panel, bank hold, pitch hold, alt hold, heading hold, flight director and WP/Track modes to my sticks lower toggle switches realitive to their position in the panel. The stick has trim, hover hold, weapon release, fire guns. I have spent hours working of view mapping. Since I use Track IR I can use Hat 2 for static zoomed in ABRISS views and left and right panel zoom views. Hat one now has inboard/outboard weapons select so far. That may change. The throttle has zoom in and out on Hat 3, Route AP and Decent AP commands. My X6 keypad currently has Shkval centering and panning controls. Since you can snap the numeric pad to either the left or right of the keyboard I can put the pad between the throttle and keyboard which effectively extends the throttle button suite to the pad, allowing me to keep my hand on the stick at all times.

I still have lots of work but it's coming along so far.

Thanks Tbag. While I can set up my x45 myself, what I am most interested in is what key commands you all assign to the joystick functions.
