Hi guys,

Finally managed to get (a little bit) to grips with this sim, and I love it! - So immersive.

Anyway, i've completed the "how to take off and blow stuff up" tutorial, and managed to complete the "instant action" but the campaign and single missions still sim kind of daunting since I know nothing of the datalink system and I still feel fairly new on the weapons. What do you guys suggest I do next?

Also, I was wondering if there's a way to slave the gun to your helmet mounted sight? (So you can look at a target and shoot)

Thanks!

- Alex

Yay and nay. Lock to HMS can be held down and if auto turn is ON then you can turn chopper to desired target. It's not really a "slaved" HMS tho

I spent many, many hours learning the systems one by one. For training purposes I always load up the "shooting range" mission (mission time set to afternoon instead of evening). You can use the video tutorials on the DCS website as a start and consult the manual if things are a bit unclear. The SimHQ articles by Dart and Erik are also a good way to improve you understanding of the aircraft.

Slaving a weapon to the helmet is good for getting the sight close to the target and then using the slew commands for getting the sight on the target for locking.
