Ok, I am sorry for starting this in the Dedicated Server thread..moved it here..
I tried it different ways..this was the only way I got it to work for me personally.
Your milage may vary...

If you have windows firewall..make sure RoF is in there as trusted.
In RoF settings/network it will show your "Local" IP if your behind a router.
Make sure you use this address in port forwarding.
anyways,
How to get the Create New Server to work with router..
(This is for the times the "normal" way per RoF does not work)
Even if you have such a thing as DMZ in your local router..
Even if you know for fact your ports are open..sigh..try this..
you need to add these in manually..dunno why.. wouldn't work till I did that.
it's redundant I know, but worked for me... till then..just seen, but no connects.

turn on DMZ if available while running local server and add these:
port forwarding routers:
First make sure you add 28000-28100 tcp and udp
Second add 21000-21100 tcp-udp (just cause I seen it someplace)
again, this may not be right per RoF but was only way I got mine working.

Once your server is seen this way..
someone connects and you have say a 16vs16 map loaded..
your going to lag to death...thinking it does not work.. it's the darn AI lagging you down on start not the program..well..ehhh..
try a 5vs5 coop.. or you might want to take one of the favorites you connect to on a server and just adjust it to 5 per side...
These will be located in your (RoF path)Data\Multiplayer\cooperative folder, just load them into editor and delete extra planes.
Nothing else is needed to make them work from that point, other than maybe a thanks to those that made them..such as WWBrian etc..
(Thanks btw WWBrian! for those first few maps up and running.)
you will then be able to host 2-10 players on cable box...
and it feels fine and you can fly your plane and beat those nasty Ai out of the base!
I couldn't even run this game till the latest patch. now im on board!
it's great to go head to head with just a buddy or two.
my laggy system is Vista32, dual 2.8 ghz, 4 gigs ram, 250gts card.
And all feels fine this way. For myself and those joining.
And once again..this might not be right..but was the only way others could see mine and also connect.

Hey Fuby,

Glad you got it all dialed in, but I think you have a bit of overkill....

Not sure why you need 21000-21100, but that is not required for ROF.

Here is a screencap of my various settings:

TOP: Windows Vista 64 Firewall

Two entries for "Rise of Flight - RETAIL" = one is for 28000 TCP and UDP, one is for 28100 TCP (to download missions)

You will notice two additional "ROF DServer - RETAIL" entries, this is for the dedicated server.

nevermind the 2 "ROF" entries, those are top secret, you never saw those neaner

BOTTOM LEFT: ROF in-game settings

These are the default settings picked up by ROF. Correct internal IP shown (behind router)

BOTTOM RIGHT: My Linksys router settings

28000 BOTH (for multiplayer ROF TCP and UDP), and 28100 (for downloader TCP) Both forwarded to correct internal IP.

That is all I have set. No DMZ port, no 21000-21100. And I have no issues with ROF multiplayer. I can run dserver, I can host 16v16 missions through the GUI (without that darn #10019 error too!) -- folks just need to make sure they have the " Accessible from Internet" option enabled (after selecting create new server) if they are behind a router.

Hi Brian!

Thanks for those screen capture and info...

But that's just it...for some reason just using the DMZ(opens ALL ports) or the 28000-28100 series didn't work..
I know it looks redundant..but till I did it that way.. no one could connect...
And if I remove either... no one connects...got me..just passing my experience along.
Like something else is needed..but not mentioned..I truelly havent a clue..
But for me that's normal...;)

So, if others are still having trouble..maybe that will give someone a hand...
Im thinking the 21000-21100 was mentioned if you "could not" use the 28000-28100
just change it to like there.. so yep, probably not needed but threw it in anyways..:)

Obviously, I would try your setup first..as stated on RoF also...
if all else fails.. this worked for me..

As for 16vs16... been there tried that..:) the AI eats my system alive!
But smoothe as silk 10 planes or less.. probably due to much lesser a system then yours.
Wierd thing, watching system resources..my CPU never really maxed out it seems.. and I noticed although I have 4 gigs mem...RoF only uses around 900meg total.. The 250gts stays in the high 30c sometimes cracking 40c.. so..go figure...:(

Appreciate the help though!
