I have been spending far too much time on this now. I thought it would be nice to recreate the last mission of the famous Red Baron. I checked the maps and known facts and added the various landmarks in the scenery. The aircraft of lt May will have to fly a distinct path or else old Manfred (the player) will not end up over the machine guns of Popkin, Evans and Buie. So I used waypoint priority "high" and hoped that if he would fly fast enough, it will take some time for the Red Baron to catch him.

Alas! When I use "high priority" waypoints (perhaps because of the low altitude?), May is flying near stall speed all the time which makes the missions rediculous!

Here is the mission (see attachments): http://sites.google.com/site/hornetsquadron/our-server-and-missions

Any ideas how to make this work?

Have you tried setting the starting point or previous waypoint high(er) enough that he's basically forced to perform a shallow dive? Did you set the speed for the "high" priority waypoint to something beyond critical speed (200 Kph+)? If so, I don't think there's much more you can change to produce the desired effect.

Yes and Yes!

I'm afraid it's a bug, or it's because the waypoints are too low?

Yes, with some help from soda. Get it here and look for the download section:

http://sites.google.com/site/hornetsquadron/

A warning though: It seems 1.009 is not 100% compatible with previous versions. The icons in the mission map may show up wrong. I will try to fix this soon, along with the new ability to get rid of bombs for the allied AI fighters.
