Just talked to Danny Hua over at Cyberpower (Danny's been great by the way).

Looks like they buy from a wholesaler, not an etailer; I had guessed as much, I mean, why wouldn't they?

Anyway, didn't somebody say something somewhere about the etailers (e.g. the Newegg.com's etc.) getting the cards in sooner?

Can't let a day go by without obsessing on when that card is coming in!

d.

The wait killed me, but you're much closer to December than I was... I know the feeling.

The HD5970 dual-GPU card will be launched in 2 days (Nov 18).

An Overclocked HD5870 is launching today.

Normally, cards are available at launch day -- but, maybe only a few thousand sprinkled around the world in this case.

I think Newegg will always be among the first to get product -- because its a powerful etailer that manufacturing companies want to work with. No doubt, Newegg gets most products direct from the factories at the factory price. In effect, Newegg is a wholesaler that sells at retail to the public -- thereby making extra profit -- while often making good deals for consumers.

Anyhow, if one wants a card, time to consider opening the Newegg HD5000 page every few minutes -- 24 hours a day smile I did that for my last card (which was no where near as scarce). Well, I did go to sleep smile And, I did get one within a day -- they were out of stock minutes later -- then hard to get for a couple weeks.

Someone needs to code a tool, an automated HTML source reader, sending a notification when the website status changes wink

Great info guys (and y'all crack me up too!).

Old Grognard: you give me faith!

Mine got delayed from shipping today (11/15/09) to December 1 or something. They expect the card to arrive 11/25/09.

At least it sounds like they're vendor comes through. My main worry is that we'd get to the 11/25 anticipated ship date and then see further delays.

I suppose I should start worrying about global warming or something a little more important.

Oh well-- thanks again guys!

Andrew

Well, don't bother smile

I worried about it (Anthropogenic Global Warming leading to dying Polar Bears, etc). Then, I did the AGW calculations myself (took weeks to get data and do) -- oh, oh, WTF, its not happening -- garbage in, garbage out science. Hmmm, so its just a money maker -- billions in grants for scientists, two trillion $ for cap & trade over 10 years -- a bunch of windmills we don't need. Egad, I can't sleep nights over the miss-allocation of resources. What to do what to do!

Well, I stopped studying and calculating -- I'm not going to change the world at this late date -- almost off my mind -- I feel better now smile

I think "playing games" IS more important smile
