I think this forklift driver was the recently hired Chinese woman who passed her driving test on the 995th attempt:

Awesome!

Buried alive under 50,000 boxes of condoms. Buried alive, buried alive...

Well..maybe the forklift drivers can tunnel through to each other and huddle together in the darkness. Filling out job applications.

biggrin

Poor dude. You damn well know that all his coworker's are gonna be pranking him for years over that incident. Wearing hardhats around him in the breakroom. Installing backup lights on his jacket. Putting a SCUBA tank on his forklift.

Oh..the fun I could have with an opportunity like that! thumbsup

Rule Number One in the Forklift Driver Handbook:

Do NOT under any circumstances ram your forklift into the corner post of an overhead storage rack. This could result in discipline including probation, whacking on the the back of the hand with rulers, and cruel pranks from coworkers. And, you will have to personally pick up every single condom box and put it back where it belongs.

You all laugh, but that looks like it could be an *awesome* game of dominoes on a truly epic scale.

Imagine that shot, but zoomed right out so you can see the entire warehouse, and rows upon rows of shelves collapsing, all from that one impact.

...long as you don't have to clean up, of course.

Yeah, we're having light hearted fun with this, but it really is serious business.

Imagine if those racks were stocked with heavy machinery, tools, bins etc. Instead of what I perceive to be condom boxes. And imagine someone is walking down the aisle when that forklift hits?

Somebody is going to die.

Actually it was cases of vodka and cognac. I think the news said something like $200,000 of liquor was lost.

It seems those shelves were awful flimsy for everything in site to come down. Seems like it should be sturdier than that and bolted to the floor. But maybe they are. Forklifts are heavy machines. And your right it is a serious matter. I drove a forklift at Wal-Mart when I worked in the garden center loading the drive-through with pallets of mulch/rock/dirt and such. Its a serious piece of machinery and lifting heavy loads like that from high places is dangerous stuff. Plus there are many surprises that can factor in. I had to bring down a pallet of river rock once and unbeknown to me was the fact that one or some of the bags were ripped open.(don't know if it happened when someone stocked it up there or not. Perhaps it was from a ripped bag from another pallet stored on top of it I don't know) But as soon as I started to move it to bring it down, lots of rock debris came streaming down. Thankfully it was the pea sized rock and not the 1" to 3" rock but still not a good scenario. Especially since there is aisle access on the other side where some one could have easily been standing. And at least there, you had to operate around people and vehicles many times which I absolutely hate. Plus we had a metal cross support on one of the shelves come half way of in the air up on the top part. That would have been real bad if that came down all the way. And once we also had a mama raccoon hide her babies on a pallet of dirt once. It was a pallet that had been up there awhile I think and we needed it so we dropped it down and while I was cutting off the plastic wrap I felt something bump my leg and it was the mama raccoon crawling out. Thankfully she was calm, climbed to the top of the pallet, grabbed one of her babies and left. She left one or two behind but I called my Grandmother who came and took them to a wildlife hospital. I liked driving them and using them to stock but they are dangerous machines.
