will i tease you console players

spent about 2.5 hours trying to setup borderlands just to play online with a buddy. the amount of arcane port forwarding settings changes we (and thousands of other pc players, juding by the gearbox forums) had to make, with way too much trial and error, to connect via the crappy gamespy client that gearbox chose to use, was just ridiculous. setting up pre-allied force falcon 4 or even free falcon for online play was never this tough.

with support like this, i say let pc games die, or become increasingly irrelevant.

ps- gearbox deserves to be shot for how shoddily they implemented the online setup for the pc version

Oh, so Gamespy is required for online play with Borderlands? I've played some other pc games that required a third party match-making service and I never had the kinds of problems you had.

Took me all of five minutes to forward the correct ports (listed in the manual) and get an online game playing, gamespy is integrated into the game so that's all good even if it could do with a few tweaks.

The only issue I can see being caused is if ports are not forwarded correctly or if a firewall is blocking traffic.
