The PSU brand is FSP Group http://www.fspgroup.co.uk/u.k/index.htm and seem ok as they are the 6th largest power supply vendor in the world. Not heard of them myself though.

I have dropped the 2 cards and just going with a more powerful 1 now. One question is 4Gb RAM ok for 64bit W7 Pro? I admit I know nothing about W7 and what resources it uses, I don't want it using all my RAM when I am trying to play a game. Also, is it really worth getting the pro version over the Home edition?

Not sure about Pro VS Home, but 4GB should be enough.

Runs Vista 64bit fine, and Win 7 uses less RAM.

600 watts, assume the PSU is of high quality, should be enough. Probably not for dual cards, but enough for one.

I'd go with a 650 watt if you can get one.

It looks like PRO has a few extras like home networking etc. which I do not need so I will save some money and get the Home edition.

I am having some thoughts about some of the components that company uses, such as the PSU, HD, DVD drive etc. as they aren't named at all and they could just change on the fly. This is probably how they are cheaper so I may keep looking. I have time before the money is in my account anyway.

Okay I'm late, but regarding the initial conversation of Phenom II 965 price and performance vs. i7-920.

There is now - pretty new - the i7-860 which is a quad core Lynnfield with Turbo mode, soundly beats the AMD, often beats the i7-920, and costs not much more than the Phenom.

FSP = Fortron Source Power (aka Fortron or Sparkle). This is a high-quality PSU.

Then they are probably equal in terms of price/performance.

If he is on a tight budget, might be best to stick to the AMD.

But it depends on Mace's needs and how much money he has.
