Bill, yep, they've got the S&W AR15/22LR for 500. I can get it for 450. I've talked about dedicated uppers with shan2 before. We both like themm but think the magazines are the weak sister. These complete guns in 22 look to be a better way to go.

Damn, now I've got A WANT. I hate having A WANT. I usually give in to it.

Tricked out like that, yeah, I want one too!

Actually, I'm pretty happy with my Ruger 10-22 with the 3X9 scope. Little tack driver, if you can see it, you can shoot it.

Ok, I will see if I can ask him for more cash on top of the $140.

I already have a complete lower that will go with it. That lower was build from a 80% I believe. Maybe I can ask him if I can keep the M16 BCG. Is the M16 BCG better than normal AR-15 BCGs?

So overall, how would you guys compare this to a modern Stag, DPMS, Double star, Delton, ect? Those are the only other things in my price range and don't come with the extra stock/pistol grip. Actually, they cost more here.

For .22LR, I plan on getting a CMMG conversion, or Spikes, or Ciener, or whatever works. It is cheaper than the complete gun and probably more reliable.

I will have to check out the S&W though, it was at my gun store the last time I was there. I was too busy checking out the girl who worked there though. The "Colt" felt cheap and the stock always unlocked.

If I was spending $500 on a complete .22LR, I would get a GSG-5 or wait until Saiga releases a .22LR AK. I am pretty sure they will. And it will probably be priced at $320, since their 7.62x39 models go for $360 or so. Well, the rumor says they will. Could be false.

And then the SiG-522 looks very nice to me...

That's an old upper, 1st generation from the 1970s or 1980s. It lacks the forward assist from the later ARs, like the M-16A1 has.

Actually if it didn't have the bayonet lug cut off, that would make it more valuable. The original runs have some collectable value if they are not cut-up and in good shape. The key would be the correct lower as well. But as I said it is a different lower and in rough shape. Not 70's or 80's, but 60's and very early 70's.

I posted this thread at AR-15.com, and it seems like a later production model.

Yeah, it doesn't have the forward assist. I would have preferred an M16A1 style, but it doesn't matter much.

I think I will go ahead and buy it.

If I don't like it I'll trade/sell it for another upper.

Lets hope it works out. Taking my lower with me tomorrow to make sure it fits and everything.

There are several companies that make them new in this configuration, also.
