Hi Guys.

Now that I finally have sorted out the GFX card, my build is being completed and tested by the shop. And what do they find? The Asus board with 790GX/SB750 chipset only reaches about 100MB/s transfer rate for the SSD (which should do 200 easily).

It seems the AMD 750 Southbridge is basically the same as the 700, which was known for low SATA performance. I can't find a lot of direct SATA transfer rate tests for this chipset - most are testing with conventional HDDs which top at 70MB/s.

But if it's true what the shop says, and my research seems to confirm - that means AMD has currently no chipset worthy of an SSD.

The Intel P45 do very nice 200+ MB/s, but I don't want to go Intel now that I have a "pure" AMD system with AMD Chipset and AMD GFX card. Should we maybe try the Crossfire II boards with NVidia 780a chipset?

Or is it all a configuration error (would help to have hard test data showing that 150MB/s ARE possible on this chipset) and we need to set up things better?

Okay, I found a bunch of threads:

which talk about bad performance for small file reads (4k) but they all do pretty well on the SB750 with 200+ MB/s read performance for sequential and large files.
