I'm not one to be scared of heights at all,but even I would have the common sense to stay away from that.

I agree, not afraid of heights. The condition of what was left of the path with just a steel bar that looked like railroad track. The supports under it are what I would be
worried about. Constructed that long ago, rust and corrosion holding concrete. No thanks.
All I need to think about is the 35W bridge collapse in Minneapolis a couple years ago
and that bridge was built in the early 60s.

My girlfriend wants to take me there... I think I'll have to fake an old sports injury that day, and any other day she wants to go.

Makes you wonder when they last did any maintenance on those chains and logs they need to traverse that face of rock. Another case of balls bigger then brains.

Tale a look at these roads, trails and what ever

That's really crazy, yet at the same time I can imagine that the thrill of being that close to become a skydiver must be quite attractive to some.
From the wiki article, it's nice to know that they're looking to restore it - that way you can spend more time looking around you rather than down at your feet. Gorgeous scenery though.

I think I'd rather scale a cliff in Yosemite with actual proven mountaineering gear than do something like that.

There's absolutely no way I could walk these paths, me a heights just don't mix.
I'm OK if there's something solid like a railing between me and the drop but otherwise forget it.

Yep, there sure is a serious pucker factor watching them on that boards hanging 1 km up.
