The video card sizes have gotten out of control folks. We're going back to tubes! Lets not spoil the fun - we need to protest and ask the industry to do away with LCD monitors and go back to gigantic 22" CRTs.

I recently installed a Geforce 260. As i took the boat out of the box i thought to myself..."wtf is this....a miniature ironing board ?" Jesus get real - i thought this was the age of small circuits, smaller boards....you know...the Nano age ....flies spying on you cause they are implanted with a microchip camera.

WRONG ? ......
GOD ALLMIGHTY WHATS THAT SOUND !........ITS, ITS.....TREXUS GEFORCES MAXIMUS ..... and its roaring to be installed in your server platform. What!...you dont have a full server tower....oh sorry....you'll have to leave the front of it sticking through the front of your mid tower.

I thought you liked big things Haggart biggrin

I know what you mean though, I nearly had to resort to a crowbar to get the GTX285 in my case.

I have a 5-drive hard drive cage in my case. Everytime I install a new video card I have to yank the cage and resort my hard drives to make the GPU fit. 5 hard drives will not fit in this cage with current powerful GPUs.

I've punted. Got a full tower last new build. I like the space -- in particular for the graphics cards.

Under the desk, it really takes up no "useful" extra space. And, the extra height puts the buttons (on top front) and DVD drive in a more reachable place.

On sale, the price was under $100 -- better than most of the "popular" mid towers.

For me, works out great in every way. Guess it depends on one's situation.

I always buy full-size towers even if I might not need all the extra space. But even then when I install/take out my GTX260 I have to carefully cock it sideways, turn, and lift it out (kind of hard to explain lol). I have to do it EXACTLY the same every time or it's like a freakin brain teaser. In fact I almost sent it back when I first got it as I thought it wouldn't fit in my case (which there were some reports on that happening) lol

Check out this 9800GTX review XD

"My FIRST card arrived two days EARLY. Because my case was TOO SMALL, the end of the card touched the bottom of my hard drive cage. Metal touched the soldering on the green chip, completed a circuit and set the card ON FIRE" rofl

On the bright side, the larger size and dual slots = better heat dissipation & air circulation. I can't say I miss those 5,000 dB fans...sounded like a nest of hornets in my case...
