Hello Patrick

I am seeing some of the same issues that Snuffy is seeing. B) My a/c is unable to keep pace with my flight. C) My home field is labeled as Enemy Balloon. I do see balloons along the front with small rectangles showing their location on the map. I also see a hugh Waypoint icon on the map behind enemy lines that appears to be the spawn point for all the enemy a/c. D) I also noticed that the Pilot Name field and the Region field on the Pilot Creation page does not place an insertion bar showing where to type the text when editing the names - this is a minor point since I just figured out where the cursor should be anyway.

This is a great utility. And we have a congenial group of beta testers. LOL

GreyBeard,
after you double click the java file the 'rise of flight campaign generator' box opens with 4 options along the bottom (continue, load, create new, exit program).

Patrick,

I think I found out part of the problem with my player plane keeping up with the squad.
From the minute of take off my squadron did nothing but climb. We made it to 32,000 feet if I'm reading my altimeter right.

And there were aircraft higher than my flight I'd say they had to be at 37,000 feet.

Once I got my aircraft on a level run with the squad, I was able to gain some ground on them, but as long as the squad climbed continuously I couldn't.

30k+ feet is a little high for theses guys don't ya think? smile

Again, great program ...

OK, Thanks. All I get when I click on the jar file is the flash of a Dos screen then nothing. So it is expanding the files but not executing properly.

Any ideas anybody?

A)It appeared to me that the waypoints for the mission generated are off coordinate a bit. example: I started a U.S. 103rd squadron and when I went to fly the mission, my start and stop waypoints were on top of each other, but they were about a mile off the nearest base. My aircraft started on the base though so thats a good thing. Could it be that waypoints are off a bit, or was this one just a fluke?

This is correct. The waypoints are the rollout and approach waypoints respectively. The first and last "waypoints" are in fact the takeoff and landing MCUs, which are right on the airfield.

B) My personal aircraft seemed to be having trouble keeping up with my squad mates. (I tried both autopilot and manually to catch up but couldn't) There is a caveat with this, as I have comment on neoqb's forums about player plane speed reduced since 1.009 so that may be a "fault" of the latest patch I dunno.

Not sure about this one.

C) Mission target, I had a Front Patrol generated for my first mission and was informed that there would be E/A and balloons along the front. The icon for the enemy balloons was located over my airbase and not along the front lines where I would have expected them. My squad did apparently find some AA emplacements along the front and we attacked them, but no balloons ... and we did get jumped by a flight of E/A.

There is a glitch - the "balloon" is really the first waypoint and the big red dot labeled "waypoint" is really the balloon. Not sure why it comes out this way, as they appear to be labeled correctly inthe mission file.

D) In the pilot creation phase, under the name of the pilot it asks for a location or something, what exactly goes there? I didn't know so I left it blank last night yet the generator seemed to work just fine with the exceptions mentioned above.

Region is mostly for Germans, who get regional medals. For others it is meaningless, but it does give you the oportunity to add a little factlet about your pilot.

E) I think I found out part of the problem with my player plane keeping up with the squad. From the minute of take off my squadron did nothing but climb. We made it to 32,000 feet if I'm reading my altimeter right.

Can you check your mission file for y position. Y is altitude in meters (I thought). It should not exceed 6 or 7 K meters.

FiveDigits had a good idea.
- Open a command window.
- change directory to the RoFCampaign folder.
- java -jar RoFCampaign.jar

It won't fix anything, but any messages will be displayed in the command window rather than blinking away.

Not sure where the mission files are located, but the one information I did find listed altitude and not Y. The number behind the altitude was 4175 or some similar number, if that's meters then my flight is at 14,000 plus feet.

Where are the mission files located?

The mission file is in \<rof directory>\data\missions
The name of the file will be <your pilot's name and date>.mission
The parameter that you are looking for is YPos - that is the altitude.

An altitude of 4.7K is about right. In 1918 altitudes approached, and in some cases exceeded, 20,000 feet. 4K meters would be the low flight.

Hello Patrick,

Sorry to bother you but I've a couple questions.

Based on a couple of the missions I've flown now, I've noticed that possibly all record keeping isn't quite up to par. Example, One mission I flew, "front patrol" we ended up taking out some vehicles. Myself I got 3, yet when it came time to file my report, there was no selection for vehicles and I had to opt either for no kills or insert a fake report about taking out 3 aircraft, are there plans to increase the kills list?

Also, I noticed when killing these vehicles, they were not visible on the terrain at the time, in otherwords, they were sub-surface can you check the placement values of Y for inserted objects?

An unfortunate comment now, I have tried your generator all weekend long, and am enjoying this, but again in the records keeping. I have yet to survive any single mission I have flown with your generator. There is no place in the records keeping to indicate that the player's character was kia. Essentially this means, (to me,) that I have an unlimited life span, since the generator isn't actually connected to the stats as produced in game. I can be killed each time and yet continue my campaign. Is there a way to glean the game mission stats and incorporate them into the generator?

One last question please.

Any chance I can get you to consider player inserted/selected altitudes, if that's possible? I seem to be spending too much time climbing to an altitude, (that seems way too high,) only to get to that point and then spend half an hour circling slowly to get to the altitude of the targets or the remaining flight path.

Thanks for the work!
