This is a sort of update to a post made a couple of weeks ago by a squadmate, Bunny. [See
Had enough of ROF!]
I backed him up, since I'd gone through the same frustrations, so in a sense this is an answer to myself.
Tonight, one of our squadron Einsteins (His name is No43_Handsome - it's not his fault he was assigned to No43 squadron!), managed to host an ROF server. There were four of us, two from the UK, one in Austria and one from Germany. It was a blast! That same feeling of triumph when you actually take off in a straight line, or actually shoot something down is (as we all know!) amplified when you can yelp, scream and giggle like a schoolgirl down comms shared by mates in the same game. Terrific stuff!
In the scale of Multiplayer ecstacy, these are still baby steps. But when we railroad the rest of our squadron into getting into ROF (all 25-30 of them) and - after patch 9.99? - we can fly big wings against all comers... well the world will be a better place!
(Of course, it's still shrouded in mystery what exactly we were doing wrong before and what went right tonite - was the new patch a factor? - but in any case, whhhooo-hooooo!

)
So just wanted to say:
Thanks N'Cube, and thanks also to the ROF pom-pom-wielders who have sustained waverers like me through the fallow times...
[PS. Thanks Brian for your offer of help. I haven't taken you up on it, but it was great to be offered a helping hand.]
