Does anyone else find the Piper J3 Cub a discombobulated mess when trying to take off?
I have had experience with many prop aircraft in my flight sim years and this one has proven to be the most troublesome for me.

I tried slowly increasing power along with a radical increase in power, but once I finally reach a speed to take off things start to go wrong very quickly. The aircraft swerves off in a violent manner flipping. I have tried slight rudder and decreasing power, nothing seems to work. Even with rudder countering torque I find the Piper will lose control very easily.

The few times I have been able to get the Piper in air have been very very ugly and uncoordinated. I am all over the airfield or runway strungling to get lift and speed.

Tips from any Piper J3 Cub pilots would be greatly appreciated?

If you mean the default Cub then go here http://www.metzgergva.de/default_e.htm and download the update listed under free modifications.
It improves the Cub 100 fold, especially the ground handling.

An even better idea though is to get the A2A Cub with Accusim http://a2asimulations.com/ it's an absolute joy to fly

If you are used to modern GP airplanes, the Cub is quite a departure from those. It only has 65 horses so it takes a year and a half to climb to one thousand feet. It has a nice flat sided fuselage which offers a tempting target to crosswinds. It's difficult to keep lined up with the runway on landing approach, and has no flaps so that you have to crab into the wind and then be coordinated enough to straighten her out just before touching down! Did I mention how noisy it is?
So why do I think it's one of the most fun planes I've ever flown, and am trying to convince my wife that it's very important that we own one. She's not buying it, so far.
And yes, if you're a Cub fan, you are never going to see a better virtual Piper Cub, EVER, then the one put out by A2A.

I have no issues when I'm in the air or with landing. My main problem is with taking off.

Thanks for the suggestions.

The piper cub in the game default isnt modelled very well, hence so many difficulties by experienced simmers and RL pilots alike.

If you want realism then yes our model is the one to get but it if just a passing fancy with the cub for a laugh then you can search avsim etc for updated flight model files which help a bit with the default.

So the A2A Piper Cub fixes the ground handling issues that are present with the FSX default Piper Cub?

Sweet vids!! I literally got halfway through the second one before I realized it wasn't real! Next to the Wings of Power II aircraft, this has got to be my favorite add-on for FSX.
