I use Windows Live Mail. I didn't have any problems setting it up.
It works the same as Outlook Express, go to Tools, Accounts, Add, and enter your e-mail and ISP details.

You'l need your ISP's POP3 and SMTP (incoming and outgoing mail) addresses but you should be able to get them off there site. Also try the different authentications for incoming mail and tick/untick authentication for outgoing mail to see what works.

If it worked with Outlook Express it should work with Windows Live Mail.

Thunderbird can do anything Outlook Express can do. I use Gmail myself.

I've been using Thunderbird for email and Firefox for years. No reason to go back to IE or OE.

Outlook 2007 is still the best for me. I never liked Outlook Express.

My main machine I use Outlook 2007 due to the other functions. Otherwise I use Thunderbird on others. A lot of control. I don't like Windows Live Mail, can't even lay it out how I want so it was just downhill after that. In fact, most Windows Live apps are kinda crappy, come to think of it. Movie Maker comes to mind too.
Thunderbird is very nice, and free is always good. wink

There is a way to pull Windows Mail from Vista over to Win7. I have read about it several times since I like the way WinMail works. I have to have something that is compatible with Outlook (don't have it and don't want it) since my old work PC had that and many of the files are stuck in formats that Thunderbird for some reason doesn't like to try and read.

If it does not have to be free, maybe Forte Agent is for you?:

You can try the Office 2010 beta for free... I am using it and it is pretty sweet.
