I am currently uploading a test version of Spanish Air War which has been re-adjusted for 1.28C. By the time I have finished the post it should be ready at: http://www.users.on.net/pam_biddell/SAW.exeRun the self installer (SAW.exe) in your 1.28C folder. If you have OAW128 (ideally V13) then select the "C-SAW" folder, and then launch EAW. If you do not have OAW128 then look inside the installed "OAW128" folder for the "C-SAW" folder, and manually copy and paste the "Dir.set" file from inside the "C-SAW" folder into your EAW folder. Please let me know of any problems you encounter, extra files may need to be added for cockpit gauges and there may be other problems about which I am blissfully unaware. However, by downloading this it also gives some modders (and EAW users in general) a chance to see how the the "cdf.set/dir.set/folder" structure works in 1.28C. It also means that any 7217 victims who have installed the latest "JIM" can set up a SAW mission, load "C-SAW" launch the 1.28C exe and hit Ctrl-Q to fly their mission. Jel

SAW needs the ground objects detail set to high. DAW (Desert Air War) is on its way there too- same format as SAW: http://www.users.on.net/pam_biddell/DAW.exe..again this is for testing, and not some form of official re-release- that would be up to the original modders. Jel

Hi guys, installers work fine. I have a few problems with a CTD when selecting certain planes in single mission. Don't know exactly what it is.......was able to go back to it and select it and fly. This happened with several of the DAW planes, and a few of the SAW planes. Not sure if DAW and SAW were made for the new sound system......get wrong sounds on some planes. Also, in the single-mission selection screen, the Fiat CR32 is listed twice......one sounds like a jet.... I believe this may have to do with the new .snd numbering system. This new folder system is working excellent. All you have to load in OAW is the .set file in the C folder. I now have C DAW, C SAW, and C SPAW. (My SPAW is still a test version.....still awaiting the final release!) Thanks, AO

Here is the first fix for SAW. Ralf had done a 1.28C flight model set plus a number of other files: http://www.users.on.net/pam_biddell/FSAW1.28V01.exeRun this self extractor in the the "SAW128CDirSet\SAW" folder and it will add a number of additional files. This is one of the beauties of the new folder system, fixes can be added this way. Jel

Try this version of the ModSquad BoB ...same system as DAW and SAW- run the self installer in your 1.28C folder http://www.users.on.net/pam_biddell/BoB.exeGives you a choice of summer or autumn. Jel

I have just downloaded the entire set of Russian Air War zips from Sandbagger's, and made my own RAW installation for 1.28C. It's fairly crude- the entire works in one folder, accessed from "C RAW" in OAW128 http://www.users.on.net/pam_biddell/RAW.exe Jel

Hi Stelto,
thanks for testing.
I guess the flight files need adjustment another reason could be the films.
If you dont already have it, please try to set "PlayIntro=0" in the EAW.ini.
I will have a look to the flight files.
Greetings,
Knegel

Hi,
yes, the FM/Dm is still 1.2, use "OldDamage= 1" in the EAW.ini, it will be a little better then, though, still rather easy.
It will last a while until all plane sets are converted to the EAW1.28 standard.
Regarding the CTD, it dont looks like the flight files are the cause, try to set "enemy_encounter=0"(EAW.ini).
I also will investigate, it might be a target/homebase problem, we will see.
Greetings,
Knegel

Hi, still getting some random CTD's even thou I deleted the default.msn files. Some I'm getting on the plane selection screen, and some, exiting out of a mission. Still having a blast thou, with so much to choose from! Any chance of getting my favorite, IRAQ 1941? I think the makers of all these scenarios will have quite a bit of fun getting them up to 1.28c standard. AO

I wonder if anyones told Andy? He was the King of EAW campaign makers. After all the changes and new tools, it seems a shame he's not around anymore.

Just a reminder that these are packages for testing. I never had RAW so I cannot really compare the new installation with a 1.2 equivalent. In online chat the other night I was told that there were some problems with the 1.2 version, so I guess they are likely to remain. Of course there might be other 1.28C compatibility problems. I'm spending more time setting up packages than I am testing them, but it is much better if they get tested by the community. Good to hear that people are enjoying these scenarios in 1.28C, and I am really looking forward to SPAW. Jel

Aircraft selection problems might be reduced if "OldStyle=0" is changed to "OldStyle=1" in the eaw.ini. Some bombers may be "flyable" but without inclusion in squad files or something like that, so they show up on the new selection screens, but would not appear on the "picpln" screens. If the need arises for a V14 I will include the "OldStyle" option on the OAW selector, but it is easy enough to change anyway. Jel

btw, every scenario folder own its own "savedata" folder, as such there is no need to delete MSN files anymore.
CTD´s in the single mission plane selection might happen due to not compatible general plane settings(year, nation, guns), this need to get adjusted. For now i dont had one in RAW, but i didnt tested all planes. Most difficult always was the US and brit planes regarding CDT´s in the single mission selection screen.
Greetings,
Knegel

Hi everybody,
Installation report :
1) SAW : ======== I installed the main install and the patch. I managed to launch the game but not to fly anything (CTD) as it seemed that the current install lacks some ground targets skin files ("missing file" message).
the files that are missing :
DPOS1Ds.TPC GRND18Ds.TPC GRND59Ds.TPC GRND60Ds.TPC GRND61Ds.TPC GRND62Ds.TPC GRND65Ds.TPC
to fix that I opened my previous standard 1.2 SAW installation and found that these files were NOT included in the original package. In fact, it seems that there is a naming error :
DPOS1s.TPC (original) -> DPOS1Ds.TPC (1.28c) GRND18s.TPC (original) -> GRND18Ds.TPC (1.28c) GRND59s.TPC (original) -> GRND59Ds.TPC (1.28c) GRND60s.TPC (original) -> GRND60Ds.TPC (1.28c) GRND61s.TPC (original) -> GRND61Ds.TPC (1.28c) GRND62s.TPC (original) -> GRND62Ds.TPC (1.28c) GRND65s.TPC (original) -> GRND65Ds.TPC (1.28c)
So I copied the original SAW files and renamed them for the 1.28c install and then I dropped them in the SAW folder of the 1.28c install.
It worked - Now I am able to fly my favourite Chato.
2) DAW : ========
Well there the game launch, but then when I try to fly, it crashes without any "missing file" or "error code" information.
No explanation found yet
Best regards
Lolo

From the second post in this thread: SAW needs the ground objects detail set to high. That is because of some missing files. Jel

Hi Lolo,
not all planes will CTD in DAW, its a planes.dat related problem. Normaly only some Allied planes will CTD cause the default DAW planes.dat need other settings.
Already had a look, will offer a updated files asap.
Greetings,
Knegel

You can place the Music folder into the scenario folder with it.

Yes there are carriers in DAW, but not yet in the style of the 1.28C and FAW ones. They work though so I left them as is. I'll find Malta on one of my other drives and pack that too. Jel

cheers,
Pobs Hi Pobs, yes! That's why I was looking for it! I remembered it from my original install on my other computer. btw, AO, do you got the 1.28c+ exe??
You can place the Music folder into the scenario folder with it. Yep! The new folder system is excellent! Now I'm just waiting for our scenario makers to adjust some of the files to make it all work in 1.28c. Jel, what video card do you use? I know you are able to have EAW run on Windows 7. I have a buddy who just upgraded to Windows 7 on a new computer with a NVidia GeForce 9400 GT (PCI) card.....but his EAW screens don't look right. They get a little technicolor looking. In-game the colors seem correct, but the resolution is wrong even thou his ini is set to 1024 x 768. The game looks like 620 x 480. I'm wondering if that card needs a different driver? Thanks guys, AO

I have now uploaded the full Malta: http://www.users.on.net/pam_biddell/Malta128C.exeAs usual run the self extractor in your EAW folder. It will install a "Malta128C" in your EAW folder and a "C Malta" in your OAW128 folder, for selection by OAW128V13. I have deleted the "old" link to the online version posted earlier. Jel

I am using an ATI card so I cannot comment on the nVidia. However, with Win 7 I often get the pixellated selection screens, and the problem occurs more frequently than with Vista. My "solution" just worked for me then when I wanted a screenie of the Malta mainscreen. I find "Multiplayer", select "tcp/ip" and when the IP entry box appears click "Cancel". Then I navigate back to the mainscreen, which as you can see from the Malta screenie is OK. I have no idea about the driver. My screens are the correct size, unless I attempt to use the Glidewrapper, which I do not need and only ever try for testing. Jel

I've noticed many ' Sub Pens' located in the mountains in SAW. Was Adm.Donitz planning really, really safe hideouts for the Kriegsmarine wolf pack? Or should he be referred to as Adm Do-nutz? Just tried out Malta, flying off carriers, yippee! jacko

I've noticed many 'Sub Pens' located in the mountains in SAW. What I suspect is that the sub pen TMod was used for something else in SAW, probably with a different name. However, because of the different TMod set up in the 1.28 series the original SAW Tartypes.txt has been replaced with the 255 TMod version from 1.28C, so the "stock" names appear. Jel

Jacko, check in your SAW folder there is a list of the tmods that are in each slot. I need to review the SAW files to update them to the 1.28c standard asap... I have just checked and the sub pen was replaced by a trench so that is why you can see alot of them ... cheers, Pobs

Hi North,
thats not related to your online truble!
SAW needs the ground objects detail set to high, then the CTD in SAW is gone. Dont know why some SAW objects miss some files, wasnt this files uploaded somewhere??

Thnx Knegel, Mr. Jelly, and RAF_Roy. I remember setting ground detail to high when setting up and had no trouble running SAW or Malta prior to trying to fly online. Apparently the CTDs I experienced or my attempts to correct, and the resultant fallout reset or corrupted that detail, and mebee others as yet unknown. Now to get Clearwire to give me a connection upgrade, no luck so far. I need to write myself a little checklist for all this! LOL C-ya jacko
