I just downloaded the new 1.28c and installed it as directed.

When I click the EAW icon I get the following message
"You need a full official EAW installation (EAW CD or payed download) to run 1.28c"

I even put in the EAW CD and still get the message. This install has been running for years and I have updated it to 1.28b

What did I do wrong?

I have a 1.2 EAW made from an original disc. I copied the contents of the disc to a new folder. I didn't run the EAW install. Ran EAW once and exited. Then patched it to official EAW 1.2 ran it and exited. Made a copy and saved it as a back up, archive or what ever. Then I copied the 1.28C install and ran it. A few seconds later it was finished. All I did after that was to make sure that my joystick settings were pasted into the EAW.ini and started it. All runs correctly.

Try it like that and let up know. BTW which OS are you using?

Quote:
* 3 A new EAW install:
* Make a new EAW folder and copy the "DLL" files (except "_SETUP.DLL), the "CDF" files, and the "CHATLINE.TXT" file from the MicroProse or Infogames CD into it. Also copy the "MUSIC" folder.

Try that please, and then run the installer.

wink Jel

I am running Vista 32 as a OS

I did copy the needed files from the CD, but put them in the old install, I thought that I could keep the favorite planes and terrain and other items.

Will have to do a new install

Steven, Jel made a new version of OAW for 1.28c. He has posted it here:

http://www.users.on.net/pam_biddell/OAW128V13UG.exe

Sandbagger has also hosted the new exe, JIM and OAW at the 1.28c patch page here:

Nice to see you around, by the way...
