You know, i don't see people having this reaction towards left 4 dead, wich is clearly a genocidal simulator pure and simple, call them zombies, or infected (wich is worse, since imply there might be a cure), it is still you fighting an unarmed army of civilians.

Not i'm not, that his argument, i'm just showing how flawed it is.
I believe Tom point was that he relates to the civilians becouse they look more like a real person, well left 4 dead infected also resembles real people, yet gamers have no problem gunning them down, blowing their heads, and blowing them into red mist, so basically you are comiting genocidal, had those people at the airport being infected, that would had been fun for most people, see what i mean ?

What I'm seeing here are several classic arguments:

1. Heavy metal inspires kids to do drugs, commit violent acts, or commit suicide. It is therefore in bad taste.

2. All the above for movies with such content too.

3. All the above for rap music too. (I actually despise rap, but I support it's freedom to exist)

4. Social deviants can be goaded into real life action by any of the above, and a videogame like this.

All the above has been repeatedly proven to be crap.

So it boils down to taste - what is in bad taste?

There will always be disagreement there, and there will always be people who want to ban things they don't like.

When society at large actually agrees, then it actually happens.

I think a rape simulator would go down pretty quickly in America.

I don't think simulated gun carnage will "make the grade" for that though.

Not unless it was tied to a real world event - sure, literally simulate 9/11 or Columbine and you're going to run afoul of even those who hate "politically correct" real fast...

Here's a question that should make even you 'achievement whores' wince a little:

Is Activision planning on attaching Achievement Points to your Gamerscore for this sequence? You know, kill more than 30 unarmed, hapless victims in as many seconds and you get the Mass Murderer Achievement?

You know someone's gonna ask.

Knowing IW it probably has 2 achievements

1: complete the level with no shots fired/civ killed by player
2: 100 body count or somesuch
