I downloaded 2.1 and the 2.2 patch. Configured for DG Voodoo.

When I attempt to load the game I get an error message: "DupBuf line1850: INVALID PARAM"

I am not tech sophisticated, so I am guessing this means something like, "Duplicate buffer at line 1850, invalid parameter." Whatever it means, how do I fix it?

In the DG Voodoo config, is the default configuration built in or should I experiment? While I have some knowledge of Zeckzeck's wrapper, I am not familiar with DG Voodoo.
Any recommendations?

Tim

Tim,

Depending on your video hardware, the default dgVoodoo settings should work for you. However, if you have any sort of recent card that is Direct3D 9 compatible, I highly recommend using DX9 as your renderer (the configuration defaults to DX7).

Likewise, Zeckensack's wrapper works well with TAW, and there is an explanation of how to set it up both here on these forums as well as in my TAW 2.0 Manual Addendum. I included dgVoodoo because it works well and does not require a separate install, but Zeckensack's wrapper may be what you're looking for.

Lastly, you'll want to make sure the error message you got was regarding the Glide wrapper, and not from the game itself. Try to run TAW 2.0 in Direct3D mode (800x600) and see if the error is there as well. If not, then it is likely wrapper related.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for your quick response.

I did try running in D3D (800x600), but no joy there, either. I may even try a clean re-install, since it is pretty easy. Zeckseck's wrapper I have used on Jane's F-15 with success, and I will try it.

The error message seemed to indicate a duplicate buffer, whatever that might mean.

I will let you know if a I find success with any of the alternate approaches.

Well, I can find the string "DupBuf" in F22.DAT. It looks like its in code related to sound generation.

Questions:

Is there an F22.$$$ file in your root directory? If you open it with notepad what are the contents?

What is your audio hardware acceleration setting? Can you try turning it down a notch or two and see what happens? What kind of card do you have?

I am guessing here but what the heck wink.

Sound related, eh?

Then I would like to know your operating system and your soundcard, please.
