Is it possible to setup multiple waypoints for one of my AI squad members? It would be really nice to be able to assign a particular path I want them to take, as opposed to a straight line A to B approach. And for that matter, it would be great kind of "script" a set of actions and then order them to carry it out.

with the map open you can give your squad, or just the soldiers you choose, a string of waypoints by right-clicking on the map and then left-click on move. once they have one waypoint you can add more by holding down the Left Shift key and right-click where you want the next waypoint and then left-click click on Move in the box that pops up.

move your mouse pointer over a waypoint and it will turn into a hand icon and you can adjust the waypoint by dragging and dropping it while holding the left mouse button down. right-click on a waypoint and you can delete it.

also with the map open you can hit the Q key and the option to issue a number of commands will appear. the Q key menu allows you to issue commands remotely to your soldiers.

One thing for when having AI drive themselves waypoint to waypoint: they're not great drivers. However, I've noticed that if you order them to "move fast" rather than just the usual "move" that they seem to do a better job of avoiding objects, which is their biggest hang up. Has anyone else noticed this?
