I 've been reading the one about the tanks, listed at the top of this page. Amazing how they developed the weapon. It was originally called a "Land Ship" and thus the committee developing it was called the "Land Ship Committee," but they wanted to keep it a secret, so they started calling it a "Water Carrier." With the military penchant for abreviating everything to initials, this became "W.C." Well, this wouldn't do, as I'm sure most of us know what a W.C. is, so they came up with "Tank Supply Committe" and the name "Tank" was born.
