S!

as soon as UI will go compatible with 4.09m I am planning to upgrade to the patch;
my question now is-is there anything I need to take into account before upgrading?
I mean, I do have MAT Manager up and running and do not need the DVD to run the game;
I do want to keep things that way smile

so, can I just drop everything from the patch except a new exe into my game dir or is there anything I need to leave out as well?

many thanks for any tips in advance
BL

4.09 will not overwrite your exe, because it does not come with an exe.

Extract the 4.09 patch into a temporary folder and you will see what it contais and what will be overwritten.

You might want to use JSGME in order to switch between 4.09 unmodded and your current modded install or just back up the files and exchange them manually.

The files to be exchanged are: files.SFS, fb_3do20.SFS (already came with 4.09b), fb_3do19.SFS, fb_maps15.SFS and the modded/ unmodded versions of il2fb.exe.

Just take a look in the game_switchers subdirectories and you get the idea.

Switching to 4.09 unmodded and back is really simple.

If you want to run 4.09 with UI 1.1.1 mods take a look at the special aircraft services website.

thanks Brummer smile

actually, I am using a modded (strange when said in conjunction with a mod ;D) version of UI1.2, so I will wait till 1.2.5 comes out before I upgrade;
I just wanted to make sure that I wont loose the basic exe structure in the game as without that structure, MAT Manager won´t work, and I am not going to drop that great tool, maybe the greates one from the before there were MODS era smile (thank you very very much Leigh for that one!!!)

cheers
