ok when Ive been using the Cougar - lock on DCS - the collective / throttle was mapped to the RNG dial....

decided to try the actual throttle to control collective in DCS.

When loading up DCS and selecting the correct axis the game dont pick up the forward backward movement of the throttle....... in the Cougar control panel moving it forward and back it doesnt register anywhere ... .is it the Z axis ?

Any ideas why this would be happening ?

All other buttons and stick seem fine.

hmmmm it seems theres No Z axis.

Ive tried reflashing the stick - uninstalling etc (with throttle removed...)

still no Z axis. (push/pull throttle)

everything else is working fine.

gutted!

is there anything I can open up - clean - poke - check etc in the throttle ?

Ive emailed Thrustmaster to see if they can help.... but await their email.

anybody help out ?

Do you see any movement from the throttle axis in the CCP's calibration routine (RAW axis value)?

Yeah it kinda moves slowly down on its own (in the viewer) till it gets to 43% then when moving the throttle it doesn't change the value... The raw number kinda jumps forwards and backwards a few numbers but nothing else.

Does rather sound like you need a new throttle pot. Better alternative if you're interested is Cubby's throttle hall sensor mod (and at the same time get his anti sticktion tape). See http://www.cougar.flyfoxy.com/mods.php#hall and http://webpages.charter.net/davegun/Cougar.htm.
Alternatively Red Dog may have throttle pot spares all wired up, http://www.cougar.flyfoxy.com/sales.php or order one from TM.

Cheers

Just to exclude any software problems - you haven't deactivated the Axis in the control manager?

Swapping the pot is easy, and the pots can die when not moved for a while. Happened to me too.

I got my replacement pot from RD - in fact, two of them in one shipment. If everything else fails I might be able to send you that spare one.

I've not changed anything that I know of... Will double check when I get home from work.

Have emailed RD about the pot. Your offer of one of yours is appreciated and thanks all for your help.

Definately want the other mods - just going to see if this throttle fixes first.

Am still undecided about the mods or the fssb for the cougar - I guess the fssb mod might not suit dcs too much?

I believe that, regardless of the CCP axis settings, the RAW values should move properly when going through the Cougar manual calibration process.

That's correct Joe. thumbsup

If you suspect a hardware axis issue, look to see what the axis is doing in the calibration routine. If it's fine in there then you don't have a hardware issue.

just checked ......in the joystick analyser the Z axis is at 50%.... I move the throttle... nothing... (several times and waiting 5 seconds or so)

move the RNG dial.... the Z axis jumps to 57% .... I move throttle again.. and nothing.

dodgy pot ?
