I am getting anew computer in the next couple weeks. I was thinking about Cyberpower, but there is an awful lot of negative rview posts on them. The computer reviewers rate them well in performance, but the people have some real negative experiences.

Any body have any thoughts ?

I'm in the same category! Any input here guys?

Why not build your own?

I've had good luck with Cyberpower (have bought a new computer from them each of the last two years. One did develop a bad power supply not long after purchase and while not quite a'Dell' level of customer support I was satisfied with the outcome. I chose to purchase a larger power supply mail order and install it myself with Cyberpower refunding me the cost of the orginial. The few occasions I needed to get in touch with tech support they were relatively quick in getting back to me and getting the problem resolved.

Building your own is an alternative, but Cyberpower prices are such that it is a pretty close price-wise to get one from them.

I have built my last five systems (the last three water-cooled and oc'd). Got a little more bread now, and it's just a luxury to let someone else do it for me....

Also, I think the general concern about companies like Cyberpower (i.e. that create oc'd value added systems for the high-end gamer niche market) is that not all of them are as good at checking customizations and burning in after all is complete. I actually heard Cyberpower was pretty good in this area; that it was AVADirect and a few others that you have to be a bit more careful in terms of assembly. Cyberpower reviews customizations for conflicts, not all the other outfits do, or don't do so as carefully.

So I hear anyway.

Well, I'm committed now. I placed my order this weekend. Went with a pretty powerful system.

Speaking of buying computers... my in-laws got a new Dell. I set it up for them yesterday. The thing, fresh out of the box, would not fully boot the OS. I called their tech support and they worked with me but, I got disconnected 3 times!!! Nice phones, Bangalore!

So I asked to be transferred to an American tech and they told me... are you ready for this... that would cost $240!!!!!

It'll be a COLD day in hell before I buy/recommend another Dell product!!!

The first thing you do when you buy a Dell or any mass produced brand, is format the hd and reinstall the OS/apps, minus the tons of crap they stick on there. I don't think I've ever seen one of those pc's run right out of the box. The registry is chewed up from the get go.

Dell's are even worse given the number of proprietary parts they use too, utter nightmare if parts fail out of warranty.
