Has anyone seen this before. I just built a brand new system with a Radeon HD4890. No problems in any other games. I haven't tried any advanced settings in the card interface yet. Just wondering if there's a specific solution first.

Forgive me as I don't have a working falcon PC computer right at the moment, in the Falcon Screen uncheck the 3 checkboxes in the Graphics setup. I think it's 3d Mapping, AA and AF. See if the problems goes away. I had a similiar issue (runway & taxi-ways corruption) and I uncheck the 3d mapping (can't remember the actual name).

Thanks Panther, I'll try that. I was also wondering this evening if Hi-Tiles might have something to do with it. If you're suggestions don't help I may try un-installing Hi-Tiles. I never had this problem with Nvidia cards. Just switched to Radeon and tried the latest driver but no joy.

Nope, no joy, good suggestion though. I also uninstalled Hi-Tiles but nothing there either. I posted on the Radeon forum and maybe they'll know what's up. Thanks for the info though!

Striker, you know how totally and entirely sincerely I say this, and with a pure heart: you need to get a new computer.

WinkNGrin

(or try reinstalling AF after completely nuking it and its registry entries, assuming you already first tried "dumbing down" all your graphic card settings outside the sim first, adding fancier settings one at a time. If you have not gone into your card settings at all yet, you may be suprised at what settings it defaulted to)

Try disabling Catalyst AI in CCC.

Thanks Eugene, yeah, that was going to be my next step. I have a complete backup of all the F4AF stuff so bombing it and reinstalling it isn't an issue. I was hoping there would be some setting that would fix it though and yes, I did try dumbing down all the settings in the Radeon control panel.

Vip, yeah, disabling Catalyst AI didn't have any effect. I still have the same problem.

Fixed!

It turned out to be a corrupt or incompatible driver package. I was running 8.5x which came with the original disc. I had tried a newer driver package from the ATI website but it made the problem worse. I finally ended up going to ASUS website and downloading a known good(8.60) driver and uninstalled and cleaned out the old files and did a reinstall and it works fine now.

Roberto, I heard about this back awhile ago when I was checking out the forums deciding which card to buy. Go to your video card manufactures website and not ATI's website and download a different driver package. I strongly suggest that you download the 8.60 package and unzip it to a directory on your system.

I read on some forums that this driver package solved a lot of problems and there's no need to go higher if you don't have to. You can always go up incrementally in releases if you want to later on.

Make sure you go to the control panel and uninstall all the ATI software. I don't think you need to remove the folders in explorer as long as you remove all ATI software. Then do a clean reboot and install the 8.6 package or whatever you decide to download. I would stay away from that ATI Smart Doctor crap. It screwed up my system and caused me to get a blue screen on boot up.

Yeah, but after all that jerking around it turns out my card is bad. It kept losing the DVI signal and today started going black even after a couple minutes. Turns out the card is bad and is going back to ASUS for warranty repair. I'm out of the gaming world for at least 10 days or more!

Got an old P2 with a Voodoo2 card for the TAW fly in?

Thanks Home Fries. There's a recycled computer place a couple miles away. The owner Doug is pretty cool. I'm going to call him in the morning to see if he has a PCI card I can buy cheap. I don't really have a lot of cash right now and unfortunately and the main board only takes PCI express or PCI. It probably won't do for any gaming though. I'll probably only be able to do some system troubleshooting. I can try TAW but I wouldn't hold out any hope for any serious performance.

Just so you know, a straight-up PCI card won't do you for TAW unless it's a Voodoo card. The D3D version of TAW requires AGP (or PCI-E).

I just figured you might have an old rig lying around. I need to send my videocard back as well, but I intend to cannibalize a 6800 from one of my old rigs for the time being.

I hear you. Well, it turned out to be the motherboard anyhow. It's a good thing I picked up a spare video card this morning. I did some more testing on my own and then with ASUS and it turns out that the Northbridge is fried. That's why the video was starting to get wacky. They have a replacement on the way but I won't have it till Monday or most likely Tuesday.
